6MT Type-S's
Those of you who own a 6MT type-s, do you have any tips or advice on what helped you locate a 6MT model?
Was it just luck, or is there a helpful method?
I was originally thinking of doing the 6MT swap, but am just opting to find one from a dealership to facilitate a quick and easy transfer.
I have contacted most of the dealers within 500 miles and asked for an courtesy call should they find one. I've also hit every car trader website I could find. Only hit was Manhattan NY(too far).
Like I said, just trying to find a 6MT Type-S from a dealer. Looking for helpful advice in regards to a search.

The only tip I can give is to get the right you expect to travel to get it. Buy a one way plane ticket then drive it home. If you don't do this method your going to be waiting literally forever to get one locally if ever at all. Buying out of state has its risks so you gotta do all your homework over the phone, but it hasn't failed me yet. I have had three 6mt Type S's all from out if state. I have travelled from Chicago to Atlanta, Kansas City, and Dallas for the right cars. I have now found the one though and it's a keeper. 6mt MRP/ black 4,900 miles. Two of the three were purchased private party which I also recommend keeping as an option. Lowest miles, lowest owners, no accident, no paint work is always very important.
Oh and the places I always search are the forums, eBay, Craigslist, autotrader, and cars.com

Yeah bud, just keep searching. Extend to nationwide searches if you want one that bad. Its not like finding an original DB5, gotta be one somewhere...
I found 17.

Yeah, expect to have to travel to get one. You could wait around for one to pop up somewhat local to you, but as James said, that might never happen depending on where your are. For example, im in northern new England and iv scene a grand total of 2 for sale in the last 2 years, one was at a dealer in NH and had 100k, the other was on CL in NH also, that one was fairly recent. People just don't get rid of them.

I did a nation wide search, and had it shipped when I found it.

OP I feel your pain... I am in the market for one as well... Was deciding between the 07-08 Type S and Audi S4s but I think I've settled on the Type S unless the perfect S4 presents itself.
It HAS to be a 6speed, and I realllly want a white one... Though there are literally zero white 6 speeds for sale right now in this country. At least not on autotrader, cars.com, ebaymotors, craigslist etc. Extremely rare, so I'm open to black and silver if the deal is right.
I'm already planning on having to have the car shipped or if it's within 500 or so miles, I'll pick it up myself. A huge pain in the ass, but well worth it IMO.

Pretty expensive
I'm looking for a low mileage KBP or WDP or NHBP 6 speed with black interior as well lol.

some of these type-s sellers must be high on fanboi juice. admitted not common but recently saw a 2010 6mt sh-awd with nav, one owner, no accidents, clean title with <50k miles go for $22k.

That's exactly what I was going to say. I have also noticed some 4G's going for late model 3G prices now.

I don't think anyone really knows for sure. Everyone claims the 6mt is somewhat significantly faster, but I have never seen a race between the two.
If it puts things into perspective I believe a 04-06 6mt will actually beat a 07-08 automatic type s. So pretty good difference I suppose.

I'm not sure why and I know this depends on your driving habits, but it seems to me that the 6MT type s's have a weak clutch..? I've been reading posts of people getting a new clutch pretty early like 50-90K? And that it becomes stiff or something like is the clutch weak or are these people just driving really hard?

From my experience I was super lucky to come across my 05 A-spec right in my backyard. At first I was looking at a 06 RSX-S when the saleman told me he had an 6spd TL on the lot. Took a look at the car and ended up buying it instead. This was a few days ago... Good Luck and be patient

It has the badge, wheels and ground effects, but it doesn't look like it has the A-Spec steering wheel, which is a dead giveaway that it wasn't an A-Spec coming from the dealer. Everything A-Spec on it looks cosmetic, so I wonder if it has the suspension?

If you're very specific on the details you want, just wait and find the one that fits you. I was very adamant about getting a 2008 WDP Type S, 6MT, Navi, black leather with under 75k miles and lucked out with the one I found but wouldn't have given in on another TL with different options.

well, "beat" might not be the right word...from a dig I truly think it's up to the driver, the difference will be nearly negligible.
However from a roll, most speeds will give advantage to the 6mt due to gearing ratio.

I currently drive a civic si but I'm wondering can you feel the torque much more in the 6MT rather then the auto? It seems everyone here worships the 6MT and acts as if it's a unicorn lol but the auto isent as praised as the 6MT. Why is that?

Like Paperboy mentioned in the post above yours, the gearing in the 6MT is pretty aggressive compared to the 5AT. A few years ago when I was stock, I did a few runs against a fully bolted + J&R tuned 5AT (there's a thread in the racing subforum with video) and he barely edged me out. However, when he hit 4th gear, it was lights out for him as the 6MT keeps pulling at those speeds. I don't think the outcome would've been the same had he been stock.

I'm still trynna find out what all is involved in a TRUE Aspec TL. That's good looking out, in that case, 22k is a stretch. I may have to go the dealership route because I'm gonna have to trade in my 04 RL.

Am I the only one here that loves their automatic? Sure it'd be nice to shift sometimes, but day to day this car is awesome. Just comfy and sporty at the same time. With looks to kill Reliable as all hell too.

Nope your not the only one. I have had a auto Type S as well and just like you said its a great everyday driving car with amazing looks. I also love my 6mt Type S and its a different driving experience because the different tranny. There really is nothing else to it. Same damn car one with auto tranny one with manual. So it all depends on which the owner would rather have. Both are great cars!
