How to install splash guards?

I got some OEM painted splash guards and i was wondering whats the easiest way to install them? Does it require any drilling? is it permanent or can i remove them if i don't like how they look? hopefully its still gives my car a sporty look.

Also, I like in Illinois and i was wondering if its illegal to not a have a front license plate cuz i do like that idea of painting that ACURA logo in the front bumper

did you get directions or not...its pretty easy, i did mine in less then an hour...the rears would be easier taking off the wheels, but i did it without...there is no drilling or cutting...screws that already exist are taking out and the splash guard is put into place and screws put back in...the back ones comes with a metal bracket that goes in place and then some extra screws come with to put into the bracket...its really quite easy...let me know if you run into some trouble...i believe there is a link somehwere here that gives oem options installs and directions....check the 3 g garage...

I did mine in under an hour too...I did not remove any wheels, but had to use an offset screwdriver to mount the screws on the rears. They go on real easy and fit great using all existing holes. They'll come off real easy too, but you may get some rubbing under them that will require a buff-out if you do remove them after time. So if you don't like them I don't think you should leave them on over the winter...get em off quick.

I solved the rubbing problem on mine .. I only run them for winter and what I did front & back was hold them up against the car and used a dry erase marker to outline the mud flap + 1/8 " .. then I applied a strip of black electrical tape up to that line then installed them.

In the spring when I remove the mud flaps all the scuffing that does happen is on the tape. Just a bit of heat from a hair dryer and the tape comes off with little to no residue left.

If you have a dark colored car and run them year round I'd advise doing that too .. with just 1/16 to 1/8" exposed you don't notice it.

D.

BTW here is a link to the DIY install

#1 - Are you "like" in Illinois....or are you actually in Illinois? j/k

#2 - If your state runs front plates...yes its illegal

#3 - You can buy a CF or other type decal on ebay that will fill in that ACURA on the front bumper...no need to paint. They are die cut exactly.

You could use rho plate mounting and keep both the front plate and color the acura logo.

For painted splash guards to go on a 2005 without trim, should I purchase the painted 2007-2008 guards? http://www.hondacuraworld.com/Mercha...egory_Code=ATL

I don't see why not. Just make sure you don't get the TL-S splash guards.

got my painted splash guards online from curryacura.com only took about 3 days & $105 incl shipping. it's pretty obvious how they fit once you hold them up to the lower fender well.
might as well take the rear wheels off- good time to check brake pads and look around for signs of trouble with suspension pieces. also gives you a chance to dab some lithium grease or other lube on the rotor hubs and mounting thread. if you live in areas that salt roads in the winter it helps prevent rims from "welding" themselves to the rotor.

Why don't you just install them to see "how they would look"?

Ive installed both TL and TLS splash guards.. They dont require and drilling from what i remember. You can take them off if you dont like them. Thats if you have all the hardware that they need to be installed.

To make the installation easier to the rear you will have to remove the wheels. The front you can just turn the the wheels fully left and right

Unfortunately I don't have all the hardware. I didn't think it would be this difficult to get the brackets for the rear and the other hardware.

I am having a difficult time finding hardware only for the splash guards I bought on £ bay. Can anyone direct me or is the junk yards the only place?
