Looking into buying Halo rings and installing them myself in my 05' TL soon. Is there a DIY around that could help me out with that or anything? Also I was wondering if anybody had brand suggestions, I was looking at Oracle?
Don't listen to them, if you like them, you like them. Some of us out here like the rings. I for one think the white LED strips in the headlights are cheezy instead. But we all have our own taste.
The best rings out there IMO are Umnitza. I don't know if they still sell em but that company was popular with the BMW forums. It doesn't look rice. I say that because they are very thin and subtle. Also they aren't full circle. They are U shaped and look better and u don't see the top. Rings only look bad when they are too thick, which you wouldn't want anyways because you don't want anything blocking the headlights. People also used to say the rings will die etc etc. I've now had my original rings for 9 years now! I'm sure that is a record!
The inverters are another story, those do fail commonly and that is just something u have to deal with. At least you don't have to keep opening up the headlight. The ones in black housings are cheap and water gets in em. I suggest going with the metal housing ones from ELwirepro that are MUCH better made. Those should last at least 4-5 years at a time.
I'm sure if you do a search on my car you'll dig up pics, I used to live on this forum, lol.

IDK about fitting them in the TL but my other car is a 2011 328ixdrive coupe and it has the rings. I think they look badass from oncoming, but less so when the headlights overpower them at night. And not so noticable during the day. Also, they do literally nothing in terms of function for me.
I actually much prefer the yellow fogs in the TL to accompany lighting power without going to hi beams. I love fog lights and I wish my TL were newer and had them located closer to the bottom. Kinda lame look all in one housing but also very clean. My previous cars didnt have them and I didnt know what was missing. TL with circles tho idk, not worth the time and effort imho, but more power to ya if thats what you have your heart set on.

See I'm not sure about what's out there on the market right now, a lot has changed in 9 yrs. I think Umnitza has a new Predator line or something that are the thicker rings. Those are not what I'm talking about. Pics will explain it better.
Did you cringe? Yea me too. This is what I was talking about. The thick, full circle rings with the ribbing on them just don't look as good. I wouldn't get these. It just looks better stock than this IMO. This is the reason why the majority of people will tell you not to do angel eyes. This is what I see on the street every time. I never see the setup I have out there nowadays.
^^This is the look I am talking about. See how they are U-shaped, thinner, smooth? Low profile. Bright enough to subtly be seen in the daytime but not overpowering at night. That is the look you'd want.
I'm remembering now who I dealt with back then. It was a vendor called light-wurkz. Basically they were the only ones that took the Umnitza stuff and made an application for the 3GTL, it was the only company doing so back then. Don't know if they are around anymore.
