G-029: DIY Independent Fog Lights WITH Stock Switch

after all is said and done it wasnt a bad DIY .. i did break some tabs on the steering column covers but thats no biggie.
i did run into a problem with the green wire ... for future people, do not mess with the harness directly behind the master cylinder. instead, look to the right of the master cylinder and use the harness that is going into the cowling. once you get into this harness there are 4-5 wires in there, i used the green one. i also ran through the firewall right behind the strut tower.

well i have it so when even if the car is off it stays on. so then i would have to turn it off manually instead of by itself. im looking so that when i turn off the car the lights will do the same as well

The only question i have is in step 2. I've read through the whole forum and still don't understand why it says connect your 16 gauge wiring into the switch part of the blue/white wire but in the picture shows you connecting it to the part of the blue/white wire no longer connected to the plug in clip.. Please explain! It seems like you would need it connected to the blue/white wire attached to the connector clip so that you control it please explain IN DETAIL... thanks guys

^The inner 'fog' lights on 04-06s (light closest to the grille) can now be run without the projector headlights being on. All from the stock switch.
Now the 'fog' is more of a 'drl'...if you want.

I had this done on my car the other day at HID Pro. They managed to do it, only when they connected the wire to the wipers it was only getting 5volts, which wasn't enough to power the fog lights, so instead they connected it to the POWER source straight from the battery in the fuse box (under the hood), but I have to turn the switch on and off manually or it will stay on. Is there another fuse I can move the power wire to so they will turn off once the ignition is off?

Fuse # 7 I do believe.
I tapped into the stock harness in the steering column for the switch power. Lights shut off with car but are independantly controlled from the stock switch.

I checked that Fuse #7, and its labeled BACK UP, which I'm pretty certain is the fuse that powers the reverse lights. If I wired it to that fuse, wouldn't the fog lights only come on when the car is in reverse? Sorry for my numerous rookie questions - I'm no good with electricals.

It's those two wires on the top left...true?
One with red goes to green wiper wire
One with white, to the steering
Side by side
?

I had my power source wired inside to the fuse box. That way they turn on when the ignition is turned on and come off when you turn the ignition off. And I can still operate the factory switch but only while the ignition is on. So unlike the 07+ I can turn them off while the car is on if I want. I gotta check what fuse it was I don't have the car on me right now but ill check later.

I promise I'll put something up. It's just been really busy, my little brother is graduating from college, my girlfriends birthday is today, and I have to plan a trip to New York. I know that there is a way to do this. Give me like a week bro.

I've done this mod on my 04 and it works great! Now I'm thinking about getting Inspire fogs for the lower grill areas, and am wondering how I would wire them so that they come on with with the factory fogs using the same switch. Seems like it would be pretty simple since I've done a lot of the wiring already, but I'm just not sure what I need to do exactly. Any ideas?

picture links are broken though. This was an easy install. I did this last year or so on my 07 type S.

I talked to another member and he said since I've done this mod already, all I would have to do in order to make the lower fogs be powered independently with the upper fogs from the same switch, would be to piggyback off of the positive and negative wire from the upper fogs, and run those down to the lower fogs. Does this sound right? It seems like it should work, but my only concern is that all 4 lights might be dimmer since I'll be powering two from each source, rather than one. Thoughts?

Just finished mine. Big thinks to OP and post 90 for showing the correct green wire. I saw it described a few ways and initially started looking on the wrong harness. The connecter is a PITA to find only cause in every pic it's over by the headlight stalk when it unplugs from behind the wiper stalk.
Here's mine with 4300K HIDs. They're a cheapo kit so in the future if they blow I might do an LED bulb instead.

SCORE TOUCHDOWN BINGO - I got it to work. I cut the wrong wire years ago and it made my fogs only stop working so something was screwy. I found the right wire, tested it by tapping before cutting the wire and it worked fine. I cut the wire and soldered mine going to the test LED (later to connect to the relay)and it all stopped working, no more indicator on the dash even. So soldered the blue correct wire back to how it was but added my wire running out to my test LED and it worked how I wanted it to.
Because I tried this years ago I stripped my heatshrink and tape off the wire instructions say to cut for the relay. Instead of cutting it I wrapped my wire running from the blue I spliced into and POW my factory for lights once again worked by using the fog light switch on the headlights, even better it is fully independent.
Been a week or so with no issues. Still have my aftermarket switch that I ran to a new relay bypassing my factor fog relay, not causing any trouble but I will not have both of them on at the same time. Going to disconnect it soon since I know it's using the factory relay now. The though of using a diode has came up and not sure if that is needed for my setup?
Below is a video I made that I hope will help other finding the correct cable. Had trouble embedding it so I copied 2 different links. This is for a 2006 TL.

cazio, I know you hate me by now. I removed the kick panel so that every time I got in my car, I saw the ugliness and I thought it would motivate me to get this done. It's still on my to-do list. Please forgive me.
