Stolen headlight assemblies were the #1 insurance claim on the 2G TL.
Perhaps those same thieves had to find out that they had to do that much damage to get the assembly out of a 3G

I'm sorry for your troubles.
I find it hard to believe they invested that much time with a sawzall, to cut into the hood, fender and bumper for a headlight that was most likely as cloudy as your drivers side one..

Someone has some serious balls to just sit there and cut a car apart on a public street. I'm surprised they didn't just tow the car and steal everything they could get.

WTF?!? The headlights on that car look terrible....yellowed and faded. People would actually risk doing that for an old headlight when you can buy new ones online for dirt cheap? I don't get it.

Why not just bust window and pop hood?

Since reading the replies, not shocked at all now..
Simply because, most of the newer TL owners are ex Honda Civic owners. Welcome to the new Honda Civic.

Often it isn't the actual headlight they want but the ballasts and bulbs (and sometimes projector). It was a huge problem with the 5.5 gen ('02-03) Maximas when they came out. The headlights were apparently pretty easy to steal, some guys on maxima.org in the northeast had their headlights stolen multiple times. And it wasn't for the actual headlights but everything else. That was before HID kits got relatively inexpensive and retrofitting was more common.

Wow that's incredible. Never heard of this issue before. All I gotta say is life is bad if you have to resort to stealing headlights. I almost feel bad for those kinda people.
Thanks for the clarification on the new headlight. In that picture I saw the drivers side that looks pretty nasty and I thought to myself who would steal that.

And you can probably bet it's someone that has been on Acurazine before...ain't know way that was novice hoping to get lucky and get the light out. They knew exactly WHERE to cut to get it out in one piece.
Sorry to see, man...
Funny, same happened to my RSX-S back in the day except they used a pry bar on the fender. Didn't get the light out though, I lived in a small townhouse community and I'm sure someone startled them.
Hope the door locks in the car they stole it for malfunction at the same time as the headlight starts a fire in their new car.

Why did they take the piece of the bumper that they cut? Seems it would have been easier to just leave it on the ground.
I've seen things you wouldn't believe as far as Hondas and theft go.
Acura integra at a used car lot with the entire front clip removed (Hood, fenders, bumper, lights)
Civic hatch with entire drivetrain and turbo kit stolen with car in the front yard.
GSR stolen and left on the interstate with drivetrain removed.
Integra Type-R rolled onto a flat-bed and stolen, in front of owner's house
Integra Type-R stolen by being driven away - theft protection key doesn't apply to LS integra ECU and it plugs right in
I knew some shady people back in the day.

Police station a block away, there's nothing wrong with this neighborhood. Wrong place wrong time.
This car is the only nice thing i've ever really bought for myself. I hope they don't total it out. If so I know where not to go for sympathy.
