Deadly Accident That Happened Today...RIP

Jeez this is awful.
I watched a local news report and a 60 minutes(?) special a couple months back about guard rails that have been skewering cars like this. Apparently the company that makes them reconfigured the dimensions of the face slightly to save some money on production. The guard rail ends up going through the car rather than collapsing as they are supposed to. There have been multiple incidents like this and there was some level of investigation done and some litigation too I believe. Don't remember it all, but this sure reminds me of it.

I was going to go to this meet but decided to stay home and go for a ride on the road bike. I donated to her gofundme. Here is another article with a animated gif. on what happens with these guardrails.

The graphic description of the decapitation of the driver and cutting of the passenger in half (standing up taking pictures out of the moonroof on the freeway???) is Final Destination type material.
Horrific...

I don't know them personally, but I know almost every 3rd gen TL owner in NJ due to the Social Media/Communites, NjAcuraCrew and other groups/meets I attend. I donated to both of the victims. On the 3rd gen TL page the information regarding the funeral to Jasmine has been posted.
Very tragic and heart breaking to the families and community.

Heard about that on a Maxima facebook group post. Terrible way to go and for the families to have to see their daughters in the condition the wreck left them in, as a father, I hate what they must be going through.

This is unrelated, but I keep seeing the number 100 MPH pop up in many threads.
100 MPH = 160 KM/H.
Is that the speed limit for highways there in US?
Most highways in Canada have a 100 KM/H limit, which is 62 MPH.
You pull that speed here in Canada and you can say goodbye to driving, and your car.
Maybe I shouldn't clutter this thread with my thoughts.
It's good to see the great amount of contribution on here and Facebook, even when most people didn't know the girls.

In NJ the fastest posted speed limit ive seen is 65mph but, it does range from 55-65mph.
Some states to the west have posted speed signs of 70 or even 80mph( in texas )
but no where is it safe to travel at 100mph.

Not condoning speeding, but it's more commonplace in remote parts of the US. The highways were built for speed as well, which is why they are 85 mph. Recently they had a Henny C7 clock 200 mph on the toll to test the roads and cameras.
The difference is that fucker was going ~100 in congestion on a road that shouldn't see triple digits period.

A lot of guys rip it up out here. I almost took out a group of bikers coming up from san antone because they passed on the right going +120. I was moving out of the passing lane but saw a flicker in my rear view. So I held my lane and they were gone. I was honestly expecting to see them laid out somewhere up above as reckless as they were riding. A lot of fast cars here as you can imagine and modified as far as money will take them.. Like these fuckers.. imagine if that car lane changed to pass at that moment.
These fucks have no consideration for others on the road. If you kill yourself, by all means. But don't fuck with the lives of people sharing the road. Fuck.

Catastrophically tragic, indeed.
I had read 2pt_slo's description of the event a few days ago and wow.
Someone commented that they work for the company that manufactures the guard rail and said they had made the metal thinner to save money.
Another person suggested the pontiac going 100mph was the result of the clan of cars convoying occupying all the lanes.
If the girl in the passenger seat was indeed standing up through the sunroof taking photos, the driver probably couldn't have seen out the rear view mirror to even notice the Pontiac (whom was probably pissed because of the convoy in their way).

Completely tragic. That description is so graphic and real I could see it in my mind. What a horrible way to go out, it's just not fair.
Seeing the faces is so much more than reading the headlines. These were real people. Young girls just enjoying a Sunday morning. What better thing to do than go for a car show? How many times have we done the same? Sure popping out the sunroof for a minute to snap pics/videos seems dangerous. But how many times have we done the same? Really, it could have happened to any one of us.
Such a violent freak accident beyond imagination. So sad. RIP. Pray for the families.

First things first..God bless that little girl and rest in peace her young mother and other female who died.I live in jersey, the roads are engineered poorly with high speed merging lanes on every damn highway..its difficult at 60..imagine 100? You see this every spring and summer groups heading out to car shows driving like retards..ie the reported Pontiac.Yes were all pumped and excited,we love our cars and take pride in them and the culture regardless if your in your 20's or like me close to 50.People lets just take it down when were on the highways..there are young people,MOMS AND DADS,old folks YOUNG CHILDREN IN THOSE CARS...life is short as it is and so worth living.God bless all here and lets be safe.'Ive also seen some R.I.P. TL comments here..you must be joking.

My heart has sunken for the little girl. There are no words to describe the sorrow of losing a love one and especially in this matter. I am on the road 80-90% of the times and believe me I have seen so many idiots who have disregard nor compassion towards other drivers. They want to stop or slow down on a freeway just to cut 2-3 lanes and merge to another, illegal turns (you can only make a legal right turn on the far right lane; not the lane left of it), no turn signals, etc. If you miss your exit, find another route. don't jeopardize other people because you aren't intelligent enough to make a common sense decision. Anyway, enough of my stupid rant, may their souls rest in peace and may their love ones have the strength to push forward.
