There are some finished shots in the reference section on the first post. I am also uploading shots of two sets of tail lights that I installed just a couple hours ago.

Here are some pictures to show the difference in what it looks like with and without the frost piece, you can see that ALOT more light would be able to shine through:

The top one does not have the frost, the bottom one does. You can see how much clear the light becomes.

Here are a couple pics of what i did to my taillights. Ack did not do mine but here is an example if someone would like it to be this way.

This is a TYPE S taillight taken apart and using the clear inserts of a 04-06 tails and then night shaded a little.

I personally kept the frost lens in because i didn't like how you could see the LED Board and also the outline of ever LED.

I was thinking that and it might be too bright and cops may hassle you. Our tail lights are really bright as it is, just like our headlights. My friends hate when I drive behind them, and my headlights are stock.

You can either ship me your tail lights or I can use my guy to purchase them. You have to let me know if you want DEPO's or OEM. Once I receive the tail lights, I will do the work and then you pay-pal me the 150 + shipping. Once payment is received I will send them out via UPS or USPS with tracking, signature delivery and insurance for 400 dollars. I have an account with UPS so it shouldn't be anymore then 10 dollars to ship the lights back to you. I will also wrap the lights in bubble wrap and peanuts to ensure a safe delivery.

Other option: You can drop off the lights and then pick them up. I can also install them for a charge.

Smarter choice would be to go with Depo as you are cutting them up and painting them anyways. Price for OEM and then chopping just doesn't make sense

Iv'e seen DEPOs that are garbage how they are put together and don't sit perfect, yet I have seen really nice DEPOs. They work but they aren't going to be a flush to car fitment. If you look at your OEM ones they don't fit perfect either. You get what you pay for and your taking a risk. 9/10 I say go depos just because it doesn't matter that the insides look like trash since I am cutting them open and working on them. Its all up to the person, I don't recommend anything, I work with what the person wants.

Final choice for myself: DEPOs if you are getting new since its around 100 more for OEM. For used, go OEM since I see nice sets in perfect condition for around a new price of DEPOs or a little more.

Really? Where are you getting your depos from? I can get oem type s for around 225. How did you close yours, epoxy? I don't use that stuff simply because it's not a great sealer. I use a high strengh glue which is thick and take a day to dry and its very strong. Then I go along the cuts with a water proof sealer/blocker two times to ensure a great seal.

Nah that was for OEM! I seal mine by doing a thin line of epoxy so i have that HARD contact between the 2 plastics... and then go back over with a Black Sealent. Works great just didnt close it well on one of them.

one thing you guys should keep in mind if youre going to take out the frost piece is that your lights wont have the checkered effect anymore I THINK. because if you look at it, i think its that frost that gives the LEDs the checkered design when you have your lights on or press the brakes. without the frost piece, it looks as if the lights are just going to be horizontal lines, but thats just what it looks like to me. who knows, it might even look better, maybe

I am not sure about that because if you ever changed your interior lights with the led board, our tail light looks exactly like that just bigger. It's bunched in I think two rows of 5 sections of two LEDs.

Again: our tail lights are really bright without this upgrade. Idk why anyone would want to do that and piss off the people behind them. We upgrade our headlights to see better but why upgrade the brightness of our already bright tail lights to annoy people.

Idk about any of you but when I see European cars with the left tail light brighter then the left which is really bright (rear fog light) I wanna get out my car and rip that button to turn it on out of their car.

Custom Tail lights

Nice work< i have to say have you tried any other ideas besides smoking them out or clearing them, How bout Putting LEDs on the whole turn signal. Not just by changing the bulb but adding little strips or something on the turn? Im trying to come up with a concept light i can share but prep is on the way, will be installing LED's on the turn yellow and will clear it. then removing the LED frosted cover and installing lots of strips of LED's and of course clearing out the lense. let me know what you guys think.

Our tail lights are LED's and are super bright as it is. The only time we use your tail lights is to let the car behind us know that we are stopping. May I ask you why piss them off with an LED strip? Audi does that strip on the headlight, but that is also viewing pleasure. You can replace the turn bulb with an LED bulb if that is what you are asking, but that can be done anytime. BTW - with that design, I feel as if you will get pulled over A LOT, and you cannot just neglect our LED board since it acts as a seal to the rear of the lamp. Good luck though.

Here are some pictures of the tail lights with that mod you are talking about. I found these while doing a search, he says that the tail light is actually red, which the glare produced an orange look.

To be honest with you, unless you plan on smoking out your tail lights I would not remove this piece. Seeing the LED's and having it 4x brighter will attract cops. Just my

Nah seeing the LED board is just plain ugly to me... Frost keeps the board from being shown and keeps the LED's in line and phase.
