I just received a set of headlights from JNC yesterday and he does great work! They look great and with the ZKW-R lenses the cut off is sharp with great color. He was really helpful through the process.

Hey JnC, couple of questions:
1. Do you have a source for Osram 66240 cbi bulbs? If so, how much shipped?
2. I noticed the fogs on my '05 TL (inside the main headlight assembly) are quite yellow vs. the HIDs. If I don't have the cash for a quad xenon setup, are there any options to make those fogs whiter? Is this an unsafe idea anyway? There's not a lot of fog in Austin.
3. What would you charge just to install some ZKW-R's with a swap? I'm nervous about baking the headlights since I've never done it before...

i LOVE this style too. looks exactly like the type-s lights. are these the type-s diffusers or are they the regular diffusers that have been cut?
this may be a dumb question, but since the ambers are partial, what color would the parking lights/turn signals be? i've never had to change any of the bulbs on my car yet, so i'm not familiar with the bulb placement. my car is currently at the paint shop, so i'm unable to check for myself.
i'm only concerned because we have strict DOT laws where i live (hawaii). any time a car is modified, we have to get this thing called a reconstruction permit. i do have this permit, but if i get headlights that do not have the regulation amber color in them, i could get cited and have my reconstruction permit revoked. then i'll be SOL! i'd get pulled over by every cop on the road since my car would be considered to have "illegal" modifications.

They match SSM sooo great.
Those are the regular amber diffusers that are cut; not Type-S diffusers.
The colour that would be output would be a pale white yellow; very ugly.
Most people who mod their headlights go with LED signals for this reason.
I was inspired by the same setup pictured above:
Gloss black housing, BUT I have Type-S diffusers.
I also didn't paint the turn signal reflector AT ALL (not even paritally like pictured above). I want MAX light output.
Many people think the turn signal bulb is amber but it's actually not. It's the amber diffuser that gave it the amber colour.
Here's a comparison picture:
Normal bulb left, LED right.
Since this in JnC's thread, I want to give him another HUGE THANKS for helping me DIY.

I think I'm just gonna go with the full amber left intact. I heard there's a problem with LED bulbs... hyper flash? The electrical parts aren't my specialty so I try to stay away from any kind of wiring mods.

VERY NICE! Thank you for posting pics! I've been looking for more pics of blacked out/amber headlights on SSM and with the lights turned on. You've just killed two birds with one stone! Your car is so clean, man. Gotta love SSM.

The LEDs will hyperflash but you can just get a new resistor soldered onto your turn signal relay. It actually takes 5 minutes. If you don't know how to solder, you can get a friend to do it!
The full amber intact looks great too!

I'm dying to get my lights tinted, and I really like the added on LED lights. I was wondering if some one would mind posting more examples of the blacked out headlights, and the LED lights.
Also, do you do tail lights at all? I haven't seen anything about that here, I'm looking to have my tail lights tinted too.

JnC I am having a hard time texting what I want so will just put it here.
07 Type S
Quad zkw-r lenses with Phillips 85122+ bulbs
blacked out v3
I do not want halo's but I do want the led bar.
Basically what this is with v3 paint and quad setup no halo's and led bar.
I want to send in my headlights as I will have time to wait for them without needing my car. I will be able to send them in mid January when I am on days off.
Any smaller details or if you have questions then will pm you or send in a text.

Versions stands for what's being painted.
V2 is the whole housing painted and the turn signal reflector partially painted.
V3 is the same but the ring surface area around the projector shroud is left chrome.
Maybe you got the chrome ring and projector shroud confused lol

^^ Those are quad projectors, using MH1 projectors.
http://www.theretrofitsource.com/pro...roducts_id=237
As GP16 stated difference between V2 and V3 is not the paint finish, its just different choices of areas in the headlights are painted. For example in V2 the chrome ring right in front of the projector is painted where as in case of V3 it is left alone. V3 wouldnt apply to type S headlights as they main bezel is black from factory so even if I dont paint that area it will still look black.

He wanted them just cleared, which meant either take out the amber pieces and leave holes in the diffusers or replace the diffusers with fully clear USR ones, we opted for later as you can tell . BTW thanks for the kind words, now sell me your rims

Ok makes sense. Guess back to drawing board. But I definately understand a lot more now and I really checked out my TL-S headlights last night and notice some was black and some seems color matched factory??
So on the quads did you use 2 pair of MH1 projectors or just the 1 pair to replace DRL?

For the quad set up, the OEM projector was left in as primary lo/hi beam, OEM lens was replaced with ZWK-R lenses. In the DRL section the MH1s were install, one in either headlight. The MH1 is bi-xenon as well, the hi-beam was wired to go on when you triggered the factory hi-beam hence coming on whenever factory hi beam was turned on

So cutoff remains top notch and you get low beam HID DRL and headlights work as normal and high beam you get two high beams.
So one could run an LED bar with parking lights fog lights with DRL off and have a plethura of lighting sequences if wanted. All having nice light outputs.
Sounds like my old 97 accord with JDM headlights. Only those werent xenon lights.
I understand a lot more and will PM you exactly what I want. I get it now.

ggesq's headlights
Details
This project came out particularly nice as no expense/effort was spared to create a top notch headlight project. Pictures dont do the color match justice as it looks sick in person.
05 TL headlights
Color Matched V2 (ABP)
Painted fog light bulb covers
Chrome strip
USR clear diffusers
CF overlays
ZKW-R lenses
Hybrid TL projectors (DOT step style cut off shields paired with 07 TL projector bowls)
Full front lens restoration
New Phillips 85122+ bulbs
