I asked Matt at TRS the same question, this is what he sent me reguarding the same issue.
1) Do not do anything with the factory 9005 outputs after the retrofit is done
2) To make the setup run quad low beams, you will actually want to tap the input on your relay harness into the 2 wire connector that power one of the existing OEM HID ballasts
3) To make the bi-xenon high beams work at the same time as the existing bixenon high beams on the TL projector, tap the solenoids in with their solenoids wiring

Basically, we're just going to piggyback the signals for the new setup off the signals for the existing bixenon setup and ignore the fact that the DRL is there all together, they'll just hang loose

Matt
I just ordered my new Mini H1 5.0 projectors. I had an extra projector holder/bezel laying around and I cut it up a little to fit they new projectors. I just have to do a little tweaking to get them all level.

JnC how mush to get this done and how long would it take if I ship you mine to get done? Plus is the V2 keep the chrome bar and the rings untouched? Sorry still a bit of a newbie when it comes to the versions. What I'd want is this:

07-08 Type S headlights
Color matched CBP V2
CF overlays

Thanks!

Paul's type S conversion

Paul sent in a set of used Type S headlights that were in poor shape, previous owner had aggressively sanded the front lenses to remove old spray on tint, which he did a poor job of removing and then clear coated the headlights.

Paul wanted to install these onto his 2006 TL and wanted something inspired by rockstar143's headlights . Beside the modification a custom harness was made in order for the 7443 bulbs to be plug and play with the 1157 type S turn signal application.

BTW credit to rockstar143 for the inspiration

Details

2007 Type S headlights
Blacked out V2 (Satin black)
Painted chrome strips (satin black)
USR clear diffusers
Painted projector and DRL bezels (custom blue)
ZKW-R lenses
Refinished front lenses.

Awesome work, man.
I have to tell you, I haven't visited the site in quite a while...just happened to stop in today and BAM, saw the blue rings and thought...COOL!

Thank you very much for giving me credit for it...I was iffy on doing it, but ended up really loving how it looked. I'm glad others enjoyed it too.

Take care, man.

David's headlights

David, sent in his oem 04 TL headlights to get them modified and rejuvenated. Some one in the past had tried to clear the front lenses and applied some sort of clear on it that had chewed through the front lenses pretty bad. At first I was a little apprehensive towards the idea of spending time to rejuvenate these headlights as the front lenses were in awful shape but after spending close to 4 hours on the lenses I think the result speaks for itself. The OEM Fresnel lenses were replaced with ZKW-R clear lenses, internals were painted hi gloss black, a set of Type S diffusers with amber pieces painted gloss black were also added.

Details

04-05 TL headlights
Blacked out V2 (Gloss black)
ZKW-R lenses
Complete front lens restoration
Type S diffusers with painted amber pieces
Painted fog light bulb covers

makes it a dual projector, just really looks cool, doubtful it's very useful as far as much better light output since most of your usable light comes from the main projector.

JNC, for those that needed MAJOR restoration, I'd love it if you posted up ONE pre work picture. I think people would gain a MAJOR appreciation for what you do if they saw what you were starting with some of the time.

As per usual, amazing work.

Thanks for the kind words, J. I actually love working on projects that have been ruined by a DIY job or another retro-fitters. I guess I love a good challenge .

Here are a few recent examples.

WOW...I'm awestruck...you do some really killer work.
I'm an apprentice for plastic restoration. I've gotten to the point where I can get the lens to look good, but longevity to withstand the sun again is where I lack. I also need to get a much much smaller backing plate/pads for my porter cable. I make due with the rotary and 8.5" curved pads but that wouldn't work for the interior of the lens.

Anyway, I appreciate you sharing those...Great job!

"Chrome on the reflector bowls for 06+ model TLs is better finished than 04-05 model reflectors but the early 04 model TL projectors used step style cut off shields, you pair the both together i.e. cut off shields/front halves from the 04 model TL projectors with the 06+ bowls and you have the hybrid TL projectors .

Light spread is more even with less hot spots." quote from JnC's response to my exact question.

I'm knew to Acurazine and I just found this thread.. I want a pair of headlights from you but I need a month or 2 as I have other mods and expenses underway. Is there any risk if I were wait a month or 2 before ordering? It seems like you've been doing this for a while and I didn't want to miss out on the opportunity - if you were planning to stop soon.
