Good buy? Also if you take this to a shop what can you expect for the maintenance?

Your best bet is amazon, eBay or Rockauto.

Absolutely! And that's what the AISIN kit gives you. OEM parts without the Honda name on the package.

rockauto.com, amazon, or ebaY. Part # TKH002. Yes, you DO need the tensioner. The AISIN kit has it all except for the main drive belt (serpentine) which you then have to buy separately. Last I checked Rockauto, it was around $177. Do a google search for the coupon code that'll give you a 5% discount.

Good luck ............

No, you're going to want the TL shop manual. It's the only way to do it and a lot of other repairs

I wonder what the fuck that's all about.

It was $199.79 a couple of days ago. If I was interested in ordering this, I'd call 'em up and ask WTF is going on. Curious though, I didn't notice the Gates kit there before.

This kit is now $177.79!!

So this Timing Belt Kit + a serpentine belt is basically what would be provided by the dealer?

Certainly! The ONLY difference is it doesn't have the Honda name on the package. Paul, our mechanic in NJ, showed me a water pump he recently took out of an Accord that had both the Aisin and Honda names etched on it.

As for the serpentine belt, any major name brand like the Gates will do, but the OEM supplier to Honda is BANDO, part # 6PK2135.

Thanks for that information. I just wanted to confirm.

I may just buy the parts now while they're still cheap and when the time comes to replace the timing belt I'll already have the parts. I am only at 69k mi though...

I think there is a bit of noise from the serpentine belt though.

I probably wouldn't buy one this early. Although Acura doesn't list any time limit on 3G timing belts, I'd wait and buy one when the time comes rather that keep one laying around and subject to dry rot, etc....

I think I may get the noise inspected. From what I can tell the noise is coming from the serpentine belt area at least.
