Are NGK #6994 the OEM plugs that Acura uses or does that not matter as much on spark plugs?

Actually, I got mine at advanced auto parts. Problem is, I don't have a store even within 100 miles of me, so I had to pay shipping. I did exactly what you did and before tax/shipping, the plugs were $35 total for six. So yeah, we're in the same boat, but your boat was cheaper due to no shipping...

See my adjacent post right above... And yes, the NGK #6994 is the OEM spark plug that Acura uses for the TLs...

Actually, if you were to piece together all the parts in the TB kit using the site you referenced, it would total about $331 before tax and shipping. This is still higher than $295. The $295 includes shipping (but not tax if you live in California).

Even the spark plugs are $13.76/each, which is twice the cost before tax/shipping. (Remember it is $6 at advanced auto parts)

I priced the following items, which I believe was what the kit included and came in around $250

Timing belt
Water pump
tensioner
compressor belt

Just a thought

You're missing a part. His kit also includes the adjuster, which, on its own, would be $76.48 before tax/shipping.

Agreed. Awesome deal. Store's stock is extremely aggravating though! Not everyone drives 4 cylinders.

yeah, my AAP said they were in stock, but when I went to checkout, they said that only 4 were available. So- I ordered 4 more for my wife's CRV bringing my total to a little over $80 w tax. $75 plus gets you free shipping. Not bad, 10 NGK's for $8/each w tax.

Thumbs up A Better Deal on the kit

Rockauto.com has a timing belt / water pump kit with the components made for Acura, the OEM components WITHOUT the Honda or Acura name on them. The only part you'd need to ad is the serpentine belt.

http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=1798456

Aisin part# TKH002

$199.79

Wait. Are these the **exact** same parts as the OEM, just without the branding? Just confirming...

Aisin makes the water pump for Acura. The timing belt is from Japanese manufacturer Mitsuboshi who makes most of the OEM timing belts for Japanese auto makers. So all things considered, I'd say calling these parts OEM is a pretty safe bet.

I went through this with once upon a time my '89 Accord oxygen censors. I found the original Nippondenso sensors which were the exact duplicate (pictorial and otherwise) without the 'H' symbol silk screened on them. FOR HALF THE PRICE OF THE HONDA BRANDED ONES!

Hmmmm. Price just jumped to $314...Not sure what that's all about.

I bought the Gates TCKWP329 OE kit from them for $188 shipped (price is up about $27 now). Same parts: belt, water pump, 2 pulleys, tensioner. The belt and water pump were totally unmarked, but the pulleys and tensioner where Koyo/Aisin. Gates guarantees all components are OE. Working great so far, about 2K miles

Price just jumped to $318.79! It also says only 4 left.

I wonder what the fuck that's all about.

It was $199.79 a couple of days ago. If I was interested in ordering this, I'd call 'em up and ask WTF is going on. Curious though, I didn't notice the Gates kit there before.

Sorry bringing the old post back.
I called up Hansel Acura and spoke Larry. What a great guy and great customer service.
We chat a little bit and he mentioned that they may come up with a few more kits ranging more basic to complete kits. Basic kits will have the minimum parts required (like what they offer now) and complete kits which including all the seals and other stuff.

I ordered a set of TB kit for my 2004 Honda Accord which will be shipped via USPS Priority. The only thing change is the free shipping was no longer offered. So, I have to spend a little more on shipping. Still not a bad deal.

Larry even called me up this morning to let me know the package is going out and double check one more time the item which I ordered.

The Gates kit on RockAuto is only $166. It includes the following: Timing Belt Component Kit W/Water Pump; 5 Components (1 Belt, 2 Tensioners, 1 Idler, 1 Water Pump). would there be anything else I would need?

You would still need:
2 gallons on coolant
1 Serpentine Belt
6 NGK Spark plugs

Hi summit21, I can't seem to find the link to their TB kit, can you please kindly point me to the right direction?

BTW, have you received the parts and finished the TB job, any problems?

Thanks!

Hi guys,

Sorry for the string of questions, but trying to cut down from thread crowding.

Do you guys have the part # for the serpentine belt?
Do our TLs require special coolant.

Has anyone tried the Dayco or the SKF kits? Seems like they are more expensive for whatever reason, does the quality justify the price over the OE stuff?

Appreciate the feedback in advance!

Here are the deals on ebaY for the kit. OEM branded and OEM unbranded (Aisin) of the same parts. Make sure whichever one you choose has the hydraulic tensioner included as some of them don't.
