Chrome exhaust tips?
Hey guys, I've been wondering if the exhaust tips on a base TL can be sanded, waxed, and polished to make them chrome? I know many people have done this with the grill on the TL but I don't want to go and screw up my exhaust tips! There may already be a thread for this but I couldn't find it! Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated!!!

Yeah the type S grill and quad tips are shiny. The base grill and dual tips are not shiny. They look really dull and I want them to be shiny. I may just end up putting in a nice exhaust eventually though

^the inside is painted black.
the outside of the tips are chrome and the inside is painted black.
it is your choice if you want to "clean" and take the paint off.
to me it looks nicer with the insides painted black because it provides depth. as in, it looks like a tunnel.
if you clean the paint, it will look all shiny and wont provide that depth!

Hey guys,
Just a reminder to clean your ---------------exhaust tips!
I've seen so many member's rides on here that wash and keep everything about their car so clean and shiny except for their exhaust tips.
If you have that black buildup on the tip's lip right in the middle bottom lip, it can be removed easily!
All you need is Bar Keeper's Friend! I think I bought it for like 3 bucks (it's harder to find in Canada!).
All you do is take a hose to the tips to rinse them, then take a wet rag and apply some Bar Keeper's Friend on it.
Then you want to rub it in on the tips USING GLOVES!
If you don't wear gloves, you might get blisters.
It doesn't take long to work, which is the best part!
Then you rinse your tips with water!
All done!
Cleaning my exhaust tips took me 10 minutes; 2 or 3 minutes on each and rest to take pictures for you guys! =D
The last time I cleaned my exhaust tips was last year in August. I actually removed the black paint inside the tips which I thought I was supposed to take off.
It DOES look incredibly good and so clean.
I learned that the black paint wasn't supposed to be taken off, so I'm painting them low gloss black.
Basically, I cleaned them today to get ready for painting.
Here's the before:
Notice how they look cleaner already than a lot of member's tips because I removed the black paint in August.
Right tip done:
Left tip not touched:
Look at the comparison!
Both tips done! =D
They shine and stand out from so far away!:
Now that's what I call a nice clean ass.
Cheers!
