CBP#2 Paint Job Question #2

So last week I parked my car in the giant parking lot, and someone decided to ram into my car 3 times and dig into my paint. Of course i didnt notice till a few days later when it was too late. It doesn't look like it would take much buffing to get it out but i'm curious of how much id be spending for something like this.

I am waiting to hear from my buddy who knows a good paint shop but was hoping someone might be able to help with a ballpark price so i have an idea. My freind and i will be taking the bumper off before we bring it to them which i would assume would save a ton on labor. Anyone know how much it would be to repaint a bumper on a TLS.

My guess is $300-400 ballpark?

your guess is correct, make sure they do a good job at repaint the bumper. I got my old paint stripped down to primer and got a new primer respray for $250 (my buddy) with my car drop off at his shop.

Might not help if you come out and the damage is already done. Searching for the culprit is always a task in itself.

It's better to hope that Karma has it's way with the culprit and that they die in horribly painful, fiery death.

Are you referring to my post?

Noticing damage done a few days ago, makes it more difficult to narrow where it happened, or what car was beside you, etc.
Then sometimes you question yourself if you hit anything in the past 3 days and didn't notice.

I do a walkaround, especially for door dings.

Sure, damage can already happen.
Doesn't mean that the car next to you wasn't the one that did it.

I was taught in driving school to always do a walkaround.

It might not be helpful to others, but it helps me

OP, if you only found out a couple days later, how did you know it was at that parking lot?

A few weeks ago I purchased a front painted bumper cover from Amazon (sold by MBI Auto) for about $315 with free shipping. It looks great. The only issue is that there are three areas that should not be painted the base color and left primed. If you don't want these areas painted email MBI or send a note with the order telling them to not paint those areas.

I am just leaving these areas painted but feel that they would look better grey.

I'm wondering if the paint will stick better to a new bumper than a repainted bumper.

YouTube has a good video showing how to remove the front bumper cover and is worth the time viewing. Replacing the cover took about 45 minutes??

The only reason i knew it was the Giant parking lot was cause that's the only place where i pulled through in the parking lot so i could leave quickly. There is no way someone did that at my house cause i park in the street and no one else really does.

I was quoted $250 if i remove my bumper myself and send it in (which i plan to do).

MBi also sells on Ebay. I needed front and rear covers for a Maxima and found them on Ebay through MBi and not on Amazon.

The old front bumper is being changed because it is chipping very easily and I guess previous owner had it repainted--just like my TL. I will now be able to see if paint sticks better (chips less) on two different painted new bumpers.
