So I'm considering purchasing an 08 Type S... Figured i'd see what people thought since this would be my first TL purchase. It's selling for $14,900 and has a 106,000 miles. It's a 6 speed so I'm not worried about the transmission but I don't think the timing belts been done and I believe that's due at 100k. Also it's had 5 owners which seems kind of high. Thoughts? Does it seem like a good idea?

Timing Belt is usually due at 105,000, so that car should've had it done already.

5 owners is way too many owners for my liking, I'd pass.

Besides Cars.com and Autotrader.com, don't forget a tool like Search Tempest which will search ALL the Craigslist across the entire country.

Put in 3000 miles from your zip code (to cover the country) and something like "Acura TL Type S Manual"

... you'll find another two dozen or so that you can evaluate.

5 owners is high, but $14.9 is relatively low. Its all about price/value (for me.) With a competent mechanic's inspection yielding a clean bill of health, & assuming it passes the obvious cosmetic/eye test, leather's in good shape, all options function properly, yadda...it depends on what you can get into it for. Its a dealership so you know what that means. Have it thoroughly checked out, express a lot of interest, then give 'em the take away. ESPECIALLY as it gets just a few days until the end of the month. They'll get that thing down to into the mid $13's. People get into cars that are more than they can afford all the time; again, 5 is high but wouldnt' make it a deal killer if they'll drop their shorts on it.

Looking at an 08 S also and they want 15.9. I'd jump on that one if it was close to me.

Hmm....that's odd-5 owners. Ask if they know why so many.

If it's had the 105,000 check up, it might be worth it.
