I saw that they brought back their "iconic" blue and black router and attached the DDWRT name to it.

which to my knowledge, DDWRT was/is an aftermarket firmware created because the original linkys one sucked

Yea you could just WRT the firmware on the old WRT54Gs and make a $60 router have $600 router options. I thought they've carried that moniker for a long time though.

Yeah the WRT1900AC like a year ago. Can't say I've looked into it but apparently it lives up to the hype. However in my mind it's the complete opposite mindset of what the WTR54G was. It's a router with no pretension, a diamond in the rough and was very affordable even at launch. In comparison the WRT1900AC goes for $200+... That's why the WRT54G line was great, you'd get so much for your money.
