That's kind of misleading. All Gram Lights are constructed using casting techniques, as opposed to the likes of Volk who uses Forging techniques. Sure, forged wheels are uber strong and uber light, but the price for them is about 2.5 to three times more.

Although Gram Lights are cast, they're made to a higher standard. They are lighter than your standard cast wheel and a bit stronger too and they use various forms of casting to get the most out of them.

While, yes, they are not cheap, if you look at other high quality cast wheels, the prices are close. The one nice thing is that not everyone has GLs. You get a bit of that exclusivity with them. I'd say they're worth it

Brian, if your dick area isn't too numb...rub one out, then nap, then sandwich. Then chores.

Ray's makes both types of wheels...don't be forged dick suckers.
Adam knows...

Plus, a LOT of quality brands including Advan use flowforming where they stretch the cast increasing strength...then they might have forged faces that are mated...all sorts of cool shit.

I don't mean that they're shitty cast wheels, just that for the price premium they demand based on name alone, they're not as worthwhile imo as something like the RPF1s, which are significantly lighter in a similar spec, and about the same price if not cheaper. Frankly, you could probably look on the used market (stanceworks forum for one) and get a set of forged Volk RE30s for less than the Gram Lights. I saw a set of RE30s selling on there not too long ago for 1000$ shipped. Again, that's just my take on it.

All of this is assuming you're going for the performance aspect of them, and not the name brand (and I'm totally cool with going with the name brand aspect, I myself would buy a set of Gram Light 57Titaniums lol). In this case, knock yourself out, I think the Gram Lights are great. And Taco is definitely right in that they ARE made to a higher standard than many other wheels. Still, them not being MIJ is a downer, considering many of the Enkei Racing wheels are MIJ.

Damn if they were 18x9 I'd snatch those right now no question about it.. Would the width of these cause negative camber?

If you want to see what 18x10 looks like on the TL, look at Shotta's thread (https://acurazine.com/forums/photogr...-897501/page7/). He's running 18x10 +15 RPF1 in the rear, 18x9.5 +15 in the front I believe. You will need to run negative camber to have these fit, but not a ludicrous amount. Probably in the -2 to -3 range, which is the sweet spot with these cars imo.

Yeah I see what you mean it's not too bad just not quite the look I like. I like a beefy tire and I'm assuming to make that work you have to run stretched?

Err, depends how low you want to go - I mean, you could do what Accordflex did, he's running some aggressive (265) Conti Extreme DWs. Great tires, they're what I use for the summer.

https://acurazine.com/forums/photogr...-build-941392/

And he's running some crazy spec Bazreias:

They are Weds Kranze Bazreia 18x9.5+14/18 wrapped in Continental Extreme Contact 265/40s
https://acurazine.com/forums/perform...-887133/page5/

Post 176.

18x10 +25 is actually less aggressive than even the 18x9.5 +18 he's running.

Well played, my good sir. Well played.

Yup, IMO, cast wheels are all good. Yes, forged are likely still better, BUT, cast are a good, if not great option. Them brands like Advan, Weds, SSR, Enkei, Rays, whoever the fuck else that makes reputable cast wheels are very well respected for a reason. Their products are the best. And their cast wheels are still likely better than OEM cast wheels, in terms of strength and weight.

I can understand why Jon feels all enthusiasts should buy reputable brand wheels. But I can also understand why people skimp on the expensive wheels and opt for cheaper alternatives. Ain't nothin wrong wit dat. As long as they aren't from some complete buttfuck shit company, straight outta china (no waisist), garbage. I mean, there's gotta be a bottom line somewhere.

Personally, for the way I like to drive, I wouldn't run bigger than an 8.5. Seriously. The TL isn't putting down mad power, necessitating wheels wider than that, and for optimum hooning, accelerating, cornering, steering response and braking, the lighter the wheels, the better.

If you wanna go for looks, go 9.0+. If you wanna go for performance, go 8.0-8.5. It just depends which way you want to take your car. Either option is good, but just pick a path.
