I've been getting the car itch a bit as of late... I'm wondering if I should do some minor stuff to the miata to keep me satisfied for a bit. I want to put yellow film on my fog lights, maybe red film on the tail lights (I hate the altezza look, but all red tails would get me a ticket for sure...) , and some minor interior stuff.

Why can't you have all red tails, 04-06 TLs had oem all red tails.

I don't want crappy aftermarket tail lights though.

This is the color of my miata and the tail lights I have as well (check out the woman raising that roof I don't see her blow dryer though...)

Then there's this option- these were part of the MMC... I don't like them all that much either, to be honest.

So I'm thinking that the cleanest looking option would be to do this:

and a side by side comparison, of stock vs filmed:

The TL also had seperate reverse lights, beside the license plate. Those, by law, have to be white.

how the fk would the cops be watching the color of your reverse lights.
There is no way in hell I would do ANYTHING but those red overlays immediately. Huge upgrade. This ain't altezza 1996!

You can probably get by by wiring in a separate small LED reverse light if need be...probably have a hella JDM option for it even.

Um, if tail lights are all red and there are no other lights, its pretty obvious the reverse lights have been tinted also The lights don't have to be on. It would be enough for a cop to pull up behind me at a red light. I might get away with it. I might not. Eventually I will get busted though.

In the area I work, traffic cops are a major pain. They really are on the ball for busting people. No joke, I see 3-4 vehicles pulled over every day around this area. I think most are likely for speeding, but still...

That actually doesn't look too bad. I don't like the finished product though- looks like I could get the same results by just putting smoked film on the tail lights... but you might be on to something. Maybe I can just make a custom set, to my liking.

And then the internal struggle happens.. I like my oem bits. The film is easy enough to pull off if need be. Sigh. Honestly, I'm probably gonna do the film and hope for the best. I can't imagine the ticket being more than $100. If I get pulled over twice, I'll remove it and bake and spray.

After delving in with both feet, I'm done with baking/opening up parts that never should be opened.

Adam, you ignored the other part...add a standalone reverse light, maybe down low near the trailer hitch, then you're still obeying the law without the rear of your car looking like ass (well, you get what i mean).

Thanks, homies... I'll look into this option. Never even considered it before. I don't want to be hacking up my rear bumper, but now I'm thinking that on the trunk lid, I have a 3rd brake light... I wonder if I could make half of it shine just for reverse lights and half for it's normal function... It's LED, so it would require some tinkering, but I think it might just be possible.

this thread is a sad reminder of what a boring azz wasteland this site can be with OG members stop posting things and keeping us engaged.

Cool. Had a machiato with cream and bagel for breakfast. It was so good. After, my stomach hurt so much I pooped my pants. Happened at Starbucks in front of these 2 hot girls. SO embarrassing.

See, I made that whole story up. Even the food...I didn't eat that.

All for you guys. Sheesh.

For SURE you can...probably require a relay/resistor etc...then wiring in the reverse circuit...I'm sure some of these other engineers that never get laid could tell you exactly.

and I'm not exactly sure what more you want from ramblings... we are rambling about whatever comes up. To me, nothing has changed much, besides a few people being absent- but last I checked, they weren't solely responsible for fueling this thread. It was a combined effort of everyone who posts in here.

We can gossip more, post more rap videos and talk about guns and stupid criminals around the world, if you'd like...

so again, I don't know what more you want, or what should change. We get dumped on for talking about wheels, but then it's fair game to talk about babies. I don't get it.

I think I need another appletini, or two. I can't think properly without my morning buzz.

OOOH OOH I CAN HELP!!!

wait a minute...............................

honestly no need for a relay, just wire up some white LED's in series and get some 3M vampire taps and spade terminals to tap into the reverse circuit:

Is the reverse light the rectangle bit between the circles, or the one bulb in the middle of the circles?

Can you just do a red film overlay with a rectangle cutout for the reverse to shine through?

I think you found the solution to your own problem.. you miss some of the guys. Ain't nothing bringing them back though. Unless they want to come back themselves.

So we can either sit idle and let this all die, or we can pony ourselves up, make this place great again and influence unsuspecting victims, like Tech or Cul0, to wander in here and be trapped for eternity.

IDGF what we talk about. It's ramblings. Nothing is off topic. If it's on topic, it's off topic But shiiiiiet, sitting here feeling sorry for ourselves and reminiscing about those who've moved on won't fix anything. That's exactly what is dragging this place down.

Hell, no one even wants to call other members out anymore. I've tried on multiple occasions, with zero back up from anyone. You think I'm going to keep doing this as a one man circus? I haven't seen even one of you suckas start trouble in the last 6 weeks. Hell, if Joe or Justn started on someone, you can bet there'd be a raging bonfire of fun. But nope. Everyone is just waiting to be saved by something that may never even happen again. Man, Justn even PMs me still, calling me out.

Y'all need to take a good look in the mirror and realize where the issue is. Only YOU guys can make this place good.

Yes, and that was what I initially wanted to do, however, if I cut a rectangle out, you'll be able to see all over the inside of the tail light, because it doesnt stick out, all the way to the lens. Not sure if it makes sense, but like I said, that was my original plan. I was told it'd look stupid and that i'd be stupid for doing that, so I scrapped the idea.

That makes sense.

Has anyone actually done it though? If it's just speculation, it might be worth the $5 (CAD$28,433) to try it though.

And who cares if it looks stupid. It's a Miata.

Hey, I came back...sort of, off and on, I don't have that many great stories tho...

True story, went to Home Depot this morning, about a 5 mile trip on a divided highway...traffic light and then a 3 mile open stretch, E63 AMG pulls up next to me in my 335i...what the hell, lets see what this E63 has. I start a little conservative but then stomp it, takes him a second to react, suffice to say, that car is fast, not a lot faster than mine, but fast...my mantra, "There is always a car out there faster than yours."

Oh, and I really haven't seen anyone worthy of a good proctological inspection in a while. Sure, Rockeyboy is back but that weenis stain isn't worth the effort.
