I think other people have crashed into those trees previously..

It's on a rise, you can imagine someone going to fast and losing traction at the top going into the curve, then overcorrecting. For being over 2 tons.. tough to image the hellcat catching air, but again.. 45 mph. lol.

That's not the worst 1 day write-off though.. this kid.. couple weeks ago.. day 1 MP1.. $1.2M.

That's what I was thinking... The damage on the furthest tree in the picture you posted doesn't make sense with the tire marks

So my coworker sunroof on his mini exploded while going down the highway while driving to see the In Flames + Opeth show.

Suck to be him! Apparently has happened to other people, judging from google searches. Still intense.

Well that's what happens when you drive a Mini

No, it actually happens on all sorts of cars. I guess it's like a pressure differential that causes the glass to go. It's weird, some people can drive ten years without it ever happening. We have a panoramic sunroof on the sonata and it kind of worries me too. I've even heard of it happening on regular sunroofs as well.

Show was great man. Some great moshing and nothing hurts except my big toe who I imagine someone stomped too hard at some point. My GF has a bruised knee and my coworker says he aches everywhere (he's 42 though... )

Also some guy on the mini forums or whatever posted a detailed explanation of why it happens, has something to do with the constitution of the glass + heat + cold (doesn't help). He said he had trouble getting the job done for free even though the car was under warranty but eventually he got his way.
