2005 Acura TL 6MT with welded on Comptech headers

Is it possible to have a machine shop cut off the stock exhaust manifold then add the Carb legal comptech headers? What kind of issues would I be encountering? If they can add 30 HP and are legal it seems like a smart project. Anyone attempt this before?

You would be better served swapping j32a2 heads if you want multiport. It's not going to get 30whp though. Better off buy a 25, 50, or 75 shot of nitrous

bullshit marketing gimmick.. just get cat deletes and be done with it. or if you really want true tubular headers, then do the head swap like suggested. but you still arent going to get big gains without a full dyno tune either.

For sure thanks for the advice. I live in California so the smog restrictions are struck here. I don't think it will pass smog after removing cats

Do you guys have a visual test or do they plug OBD2 port for smog? If it's the latter you'll pass no problem.

^ california has both tests (visual and OBDII)

OP you'll pass with HFPCS, but visual not always. depends where you go. and once you find that shop keep going to them haha

Yeah, gaining 30hp on our cars from any intake/exhaust mod will never happen. I wonder how they can even market that. I think you'd be lucky if you got even half of that.

that 30 HP gain was for the J32A2 aka 2001-3 CL-S\TL-S motor. Different head design and the original headers for that motor are pretty restrictive....comparatively speaking...

If you want more powah, make a Frankenstein motor
