'08 Type S (Need opinions)

I am to finalize my deal this saturday for a 08 Type S, What do you guys think of the price:

Year: 2008
Color int/ext: Black/black
Odom:87,5xx
Carfax: Clean
Accident free

Asking price: 16.5k
Giving: Another set of wheels (OEM) and snow tires

The guy i was talking to was a really nice gentleman, and i feel bad if i was to low ball, what would the right price be for this vehicle? I found a lot of it to be around 15-17K.

Also i'm new to this forum and i really enjoy it here! thanks for all the help and feedback!

I picked up my TL-S for $15.9 with an AEM cold air intake and 84.4xx miles fogged headlights and a couple rips in the seats at a major dealership. *shrug*

A bit high for no mods/maintenance. The wheels help, but it will need timing belt/water pump soon. Point out the Timing belt is a wear item and is a rubber belt, it ages with time and mileage so just because its under 105k miles doesnt mean it shouldn't need replacing. I would shoot for $14-15k.

Thanks for the tips!

i'm a newbie but what kind of maintenance need to be done at 105k? can it be done at different time or all of the maintenance work have to be done at the same time? because i don't want my wallet to go empty all at once.

Here's a good guide as to what needs to be done at around 105k or when you get the "B4" code in the MID.

Welcome to AcuraZine.

Welcome to the TL community. That is a sexy looking car. But yeah 16.5k is a bit high for that mileage, but also remember these TLs are holding value fairly well (especially the S models) so don't expect him to budge too much. Others are likely willing to pay similar to get the car, also it comes with another set of wheels and winter tires? maybe 15.5k or so, but make sure you get carfax and a paid inspection to find out about any wear that needs to be done right now.

My TL was bought from a lady that had all routine maintenance done at dealer, but the ATF filter was trashed to crap when a friend of mine was doing some general maintenance on ATF, and found the filter was not replaced at all when the dealer did the tranny flush...so make sure to get a proper inspection...there may be hidden areas that needs servicing and so you can talk down the price more.

I am planning to ask him if we can take it to the dealership near by to inspect it. Thank you!

An unmodified/unmolested vehicle is generally worth more than a modded one, all else being equal.

Yup, definitely agree with you on that. Sometimes though if you find the right buyer who appreciates the mods they can add value. I sold my original 08 Type-S with 135k miles for close to $16000 due to the mods and maintenance (Aspec kit, coils, custom tails, DVD player ipod input short shifter blah blah). But then again it was also a 6MT.

sometimes buyer has to understand for a like-new condition such as this, a premium is sometime worth it. it speaks volume on how he took care of the car. it look literally brand new from a private owner

if you like it, i usually would negotiate the price to cover taxes... IF it was at least NADA value asking price

That's true, sometime the mod might not be necessary. Thanks anx!

If he had the A spec on that car right now, i would totally buy it right away, and this is a 5AT so...i mean the price sound right. Taking it to a body shop for inspection before we buy. So hopefully everything came back okay.

I got the car for 15.2, he kept it really clean. Some minor cosmetic issue but i think it's worth it! She is so fun to drive. I love this car so much! Amazing purchased in my opinion. Looking forward to do some lights and wax her clean!
Picture will be posted soon

Not

That's not low-balling. I bought mine last year, same year model, excellent condition, for 14.5k. That's low balling. I love my car.
