An RLX Picture I Like

While browsing AutoTrader for used RLX's, I came across this picture. I have never been a fan of white cars, but I really like the look of this white RLX with the body side molding. Tinted windows and an ebony interior would really be the icing on the cake.

Unfortunately, an Advance Package car would have a Seacoast interior.

Ask me how I know. :-)

I'd never have voluntarily chosen Bellanova White Pearl + Seacoast, but I got used to it and it's fine, especially after so many people have told me it looks good. LOL....

I haven't had any issue at all with the Seacoast interior after 7,000+ miles.

I was worried about indigo transfer. Nothing of the sort has happened.

This is what my car looks like.

Wouldn't have been my first choice, but you get used to it quickly and I wouldn't hesitate to get this color combination again in the future.

Something that I thought I would have a hard time getting used to is the sort of grayish taupe color of the top cover of the dashboard. I thought it would clash with the solid black leather of the steering wheel, but it is not so bad.

Honda's explanation for the odd taupe color in most of the interiors is that it shows dust less than ebony. The only interior color that has an ebony dash top is the ebony interior.

I'd *never* have voluntarily picked this, but with a Sport Hybrid you sort of have to take whatever it is that they sent the dealer.

I have never owned a car with a light interior (they have all been black), but I think the Graphite Luster and Graystone color combo on the RLX looks amazing. I am single with no kids (and wouldn't dare eat anything in my car or drink anything except water), but I still wouldn't buy a light interior.

One positive about the lighter interiors though is that you can clearly see the dirt, dye transfer, and whatever other stain, which makes it more prone to being cleaned. Black interiors still have all of the above, but most stains go unnoticed because they blend in with the dark leather which means most people with darker interiors probably clean them less. Just my

White is not too bad in this car. To my eye, darker colors are preferred, though.

I am also not a fan of lighter interior colors. This is not because they don't look good--my Greystone is really not bad at all--it's the maintenance.

I'm with you. After owning Merc with off white interior I learned the lesson. I marked the driver seat with my jeans. Now my interior is also light but I had the interior protection package. It's working but where I rest my knee against the console it is starting to get marked. I will let the dealer know and I have switched to Levis from designer.

I also think the lighter color interior looks very good, but like Bob Said the upkeep on it would be a pain in the butt, I would be better off sticking with the darker colors.

FWIW...the upkeep hasn't been too bad for me with the Seacost interior. I give all the leather components a good wash, condition, and detail about once a month and mine has stayed pretty close to new.

If anything it's just the constant discipline of making sure you watch how you enter/exit the vehicle, as feet and shoe scuffs are where it's going to make the most impact. Particularly on the lower door areas and the inner door rim areas that are also "Seacoast" as well. Otherwise, there hasn't been too much of an issue with clothing dye transfer. Other than once incident I had, but that was our fault for not having washed the new "black" cloth jacket before my fiance sat in the car. It still had dye from just being purchased. Most of it has come out over repeated washes.

Exactly. Very annoying. Tight parking space, size 12's, just doesn't work out sometimes.

Like you, no problems with the seating surfaces. Surprised.

Congrats jpadilla!!!

Enjoy the ride - that's one heck of a car for $36K.

You'll love the Krell audio...best way I can describe it is that all the music is clear and pure.
