RLX Hybrid Cruise Control
I am enjoy my new ride immensely. A few nights ago, while on the interstate, I was using "standard" cruise control (instead of Adaptive Cruise Control), when I noticed my speed dropping. I applied more throttle and got back up to cruising speed and engaged the cruise control again. A few minutes later, the same thing happened, speed began to drop without any input whatsoever from me.
Now, this got my attention. I motored on, engaged cruise control for a third time, and watched what, if anything, would happen.
Sure enough, after a few minutes, I watched as the car transitioned into EV mode, the tach fell to zero, and immediately the cruise control shut off. My "AH-HA" moment. Now that I figured out WHAT was happening, I wanted to check here to make sure this was proper.
Am I correct? Will the transition, however brief, to EV mode shut down the cruise control?
Thanks for taking the time to offer your insights.

There is a recent TSB for this. EE4Life posted this in the TSB thread:

Apparently the auto stop / start of the engine disengages the CC when the engine shuts down.

Just read the TSB.....that seems to be my situation. It's not that annoying to rush back to the dealer, but it'll be on my list for the first servicing. Many thanks for the information.

Welcome. At least it is just a software update. I hate when they have to tear apart my new car to resolve a defect. Frankly, my SH may have the same issue - I just have not used it in standard CC mode. I should test it before my next service call. I did use ACC on a trip to Orlando and back, and I was very impressed how it performed.

Responding to use of standard cruise control over adaptive. For the most part, I find adaptive cruise control is a benefit to me only in certain driving situations, mostly longer drives and lighter traffic situations. In heavier traffic, and shorter commutes on the interstate, it is my opinion that adaptive cruising subjects the car to abrupt speed changes, and promotes traffic jockeys to cross over in front of me because there is too much room between me and the car in front (even at its closest settings). In heavier traffic, standard cruise control allows me to drive in a smoother fashion by approaching the car ahead, signaling, and then crossing over into the passing lane to pass. This is my third car with adaptive cruise, but, the very first one that allows me to choose which mode I want to use. I enjoy having the choice of which mode to use.

I was reluctant to accept this level of autonomy. I refused to get the CMBS option in my former RL as when I test drove a CMBS equipped model, I found the beeps, flashes, tugs and vibrations a distraction. My mind wen to: 'why did the car do that?' and was concerned it would be counterproductive.
Now with AcuraWatch Plus, I have slowly tested and used these features to identify the idiosyncrasies. I have to say I am very pleased with them. And ACC in particular was a godsend on a recent Tamp - Orlando I-4 trip. That said, I agree with some of the side effects of ACC, primarily reacting (or not reacting) to beiung cut off and slower than desired acceleration from a stop. There are enough adjustments to minimize these situations. But for drivers who will not or cannot let the car do it's thing, I can see it being annoying. And I am perfectly fine with thise type of drivers who will no relinquish control of the vehicle.
