One year with #00217! Post your one-year tale here!

I drove beta-tester #00217 home exactly one year ago tonight, and made the 13th lease payment a couple days ago. How fast that year has gone by!

Some random, disorganized thoughts and notes as I celebrate a year of leasing...

#00217 has 10868 miles on it as of tonight.

Total mileage for the year is 24.9 mpg. It's about to tank again as Cleveland traditionally has long, freezing, snowy winters.

I've been to the dealer for one oil change and the headlight recall. No unexpected dealer visits.

One parking lot scratch along the whole passenger side of the car and a second scar on the passenger side from kids at the soccer academy my son attends. I HATE BLACK CARS! Well, not really. OK, they look good when they are perfect, but upkeep is a b*tch.

I had to deal with the smelly A/C, but a single application of Würth A/C cleaner and a fresh cabin air filter a few weeks ago completely took it away. If it comes back, I've still got 1/2 a can of the 16 oz size of Würth. My cabin air filter smelled like fungus, it was NASTAAAAY. Will be changing that sucker every six months from now on.

Car has been rebadged as LEGEND, for that is what it should have been called.

I now have a new set of 20" tires/wheels with over 1000 miles on them. They look great and the wheel/tire combination I have weighs three pounds less at each corner, and matches stock circumference. Mileage has not worsened with the new combo.

I now have people commenting on how good, how classy my RLX looks now with the new wheels. It's almost as bad as with my V wagon now, though the V wagon wins the public attention contest on any given day.

Looking forward to two more years with the Sport Hybrid! To add another dose of über-rare to my garage, I should be picking up a NA2 NSX on Friday/Saturday if my final personal inspection goes well. Then three of our four cars (for I'm trading in my little S2000 ) will be rare. I need to open up a museum, LOL!

So post up your one-year stories, guys! George? Malibu? Zoomer? You guys were the Sport Hybrid "OG" Beta-Testers and you had yours before me.

I passed my 1 year anniversary a few days ago, maybe as much as 10 days ago.

I don't have a lot to say except I continue to believe that the car was built just for me.

:-)

No problems at all...yet.

I'm a little concerned about something I am beginning to notice.

With part throttle acceleration, the DCT7 seems to have a minor stuttering problem...sometimes.

I believe that under some conditions it cannot decide between fourth and fifth gears.

It does not happen in Sport Mode.

It does not happen if you accelerate less, or accelerate more.

It only happens sometimes and only under moderate acceleration.

A friend of mine who has a 2012 TL automatic went in for an oil change, and felt he should let the dealer know about a similar issue with his car. Just sometimes, and just under moderate acceleration, his car seemed to have issues deciding between third and fourth gears.

After about an hour, the dealer hands him keys to a TLX V6 SH-AWD Advance.

"Here, take this for a couple of days. We're replacing the torque converter."

I hope we're not going to see similarly big problems with the DCT7, but it is a little issue that I'll mention at the next maintenance minder.

2 yrs and 3 mos. with my Adv PAWS - it is still a unique automobile @ 27700 miles. I think I have finally become accustomed to the suspension system; I know how to react. Have had several TSB applies that needed to be done, not done just because they were TSBs. My dealer in Houston has still not put a SH-SHawd model on their showroom floor. I asked about one and he wanted to know if I wanted to order one.

Funny. I just noticed that today is also my one-year anniversary, and I have about 10,500 miles on the car.

Like George, I also feel that this car was really made for me. To this day, when I get in the car I still smile. I look forward to every long road trip. And the car is as much fun to drive as it was a year ago. I have never owned a car that continued to delight a full year later. As a highway cruiser it seems to me to be as perfect a car as I could find anywhere (leave aside the imperfections in the NAV-tainment system!).

I have had a couple of minor issues. The wind noise from the driver's side window, which they mostly got fixed (and I am not pushing it further lest they inadvertently make it worse). The car is still the quietest I have owned. I also had a rattle appear in the back seat area, which turned out to be something loose in the rear shelf that they fixed. I have had the headlight and CMBS recalls done and one oil change, as well as the rear shade TSB. I have made no mods other than the side door trim, mud guards and spare tire kit that I bought with the car.

All in all, with the amount of new technology in the drive train of this car, and the not-so-slight fear I had in going into this first-year beta test, I am thrilled at the rock solid performance of the car. It appears from this forum that no one has had any drive drain issues - or in fact any serious issues - with the SH-AWD. We may complain about the center stack NAV-tainment system, but the performance of the car has been stellar. I may even have wasted my money on the extended warranty!

I had one destroyed tire and bent rim from a pothole, and a little dislocation in a side panel from running over a branch, but both were fixed quickly and professionally by my long-time dealer. I could not be happier with Acura service.

The only on-going problem I have is that the NAV system, with both its components having been replaced for this issue, still occassionally (once every week or two) reboots, and on rare occasions (maybe once every two or three months) it takes a very long time (a couple of minutes) to come back to life. I'm still hoping, perhaps in vain, for a real NAV system update with these bugs squashed and some feature fixes. My original complaint about the inability to scroll the map while moving was fixed in the maps software update.

I waited for this car for at least two years driving my '06 RL, and looking fondly at the BMW 535xi, the Lexus GS, the Audi A6, the Infiniti M35, and even a Tesla. Those two years were very annoying, as we all know. But I am extremely happy I waited and the first year of ownership has been a complete delight.

End of Acura commercial.

In one aspect I'm jealous of the low mileage you all have after one year! My 16 RLX Sprt Hybrid is two and a half months old and I've driven over 6,500 miles!! I love this SH...no trips to the Acura dealer at all...by this time with my 14 RLX Advance the service department already knew me well.

Hello all, first off I am a long time lurker but I have gleaned so much information from the forums that I feel I know some of you. George and Bob, I would particularly like to thank for your reviews and feedback on the RLX Hybrid and while my story is not one of a year long ownership experience with my 2015 RLX Hybrid it is one I am thoroughly enjoying. I came from a 2010 A-Spec TL 6MT to a 2015 TLX SH-AWD (with "Launch Package") to my current vehicle which I had been researching for the past 2+ years.

For the northwest this car is perfect given the amount of rain we get and while I feel the car is under-tired for its power (a situation I will remedy in the spring). Actually this is my business car as it has so much room in the rear seating but it frequently puts a grin on my face with how the car flips the switch between eco cruiser to sport sedan (OK its no M5 but its as much as my abilities can handle+).

From the TLX the differences while subtle are obvious and no other car that I tried walked the line between practical, responsible (I am in the northwest ref tree-hugger) and flat out fun. It has a great balance to it, looking forward to better rubber and more fun.

Thanks again all, for your reviews and feedback in these forums.

P.S. Its definitely a you get it or you don't proposition with this car.

Welcome aboard. I guess we can no longer call ourselves beta testers after a year, but I think we all still feel that this car is a well-kept secret!

Thanks guys, I was not meaning to hi-jack the (the Canadian in me wants to apologize). Thus far a great experience. I like what one reviewer said "Its the best car you'll never drive". Under the radar is good place to be for me, last thing I want is to visit a clients office in an S-Class and them think I am making too much off them.

People are going to be pumping you for information because we did not get the 2015 model year in the United States.

We'll be curious to know how it compares to the 2014 and 2016 models.

Talking Me

So I have had my 2015 RLX Advance now for ~16 months. Maintenance wise: I had 2 recalls for the seatbelt & headlight; had the squeaky steering column replaced under warranty; the BlueTooth has stopped working and need to get that fixed. So far 1 oil change & tire rotation & that is it. Was averaging ~24mpg but now up to ~25mpg. I wash it fairly regularly in decent weather & wax every 3 months (Meguiar's Black Wax being my new fav). The car has given me no real issues, including the suspension problem that plagues others.

I get compliments every now and again; the most impressive is someone who went out and bought 1 themselves after seeing mine.

I am still satisfied with the car; I do not regret purchasing it but not in love with it either. I probably still harbor resentment towards Acura for the horrible rollout of the hybrid that I was waiting on. If Acura does something spectacular or @ least dramatically different with the MMC (like the 2009 RL) or the next FMC I may consider trading in for the hybrid. Unless I decide I want a CUV/MDX, this is probably my last Acura. Really hoping that they make an NSX-lite for ~$60k that is an Acura, not a Honda. That I would definitely consider.

My current thinking as well. I'm hoping there's a FMC or at least major restyling for the 2018 MY to keep me in the fold, as I am quite satisfied with this car. I'm already thinking of what to replace with, two years out.

2018 should be about right for my replacement, too, although I have no idea the direction I'd go.

It's possible that in 2018, we'll be looking at all-electric or a heavily-electric Legend.

Maybe with the 9 DCT and better driving correction/auto driving, and more rear seat controls.

But, remember that the next generation Accord is going to have the Civic chassis that was just rolled out for 2017.

Maybe we're all downsizing and we just don't know it yet.
