So i finally picked up the 2016 RLX-SH on Saturday, and drove it 180 miles back home:-). It is a totally different car that the P-AWS, and it delivers this awesome driving experience with such grace.....I do have to say that i really enjoyed driving the P-AWS also.....but i am extremely happy i did the switch!
I will try to go over everything, but i have to say i "LOVE" the brake pedal feel! I know its a little thing, but it has made the biggest impression on me.

Thanks to everyone on here for their advise and knowledge...... i will be posting my observations on each particular aspect of the SH.

Interesting you mention the brake pedal feel. I too like it very much and scratch my head when I read criticisms. I find it very similar to my previous RL firm and linear. I was prepared for more gabbiness from what I read and what many say about hybrid braking.

The most I feel the regenerative working is when slowly backing up my driveway into the garage, I feel some lugging from the electric motors in reverse and then the brakes do grab quickly. It was a minor adjustment.

Thanks TampaRLX-SH! I think it will take me a little while to get used to the relationship between the gas pedal pressure and the hybrid-ICE switch over, if that makes any sense.... Also getting into the car, pressing the start button, all the lights coming on, seeing the green "READY" and silence........it takes me a couple of seconds to realize its time to start driving:-)

I still have difficulty with this. In a parking lot or on the 20mph streets of my subdivision I do OK. But launching from a traffic light almost always kicks in the ICE within a few feet. I have just decided I prefer the power of the car over the optimum efficiency. I am still around 27-28 mpg average, but only on my second tank of fuel still.

Same experience with the 2014. It would have been nice to have a adjustable setting to use a bit more battery before the engine started.

I think the solution to this is the adjustable pedal for throttle. But again, the launch via rear electric motors does break the inertia to get this heavy car moving,,,,which drastically reduces the fuel consumption.

The thing I am still getting used to is the remote start. I start the car from my office and most of the time when I get to the car the motor is not running. The A/C is on when I get inside, it just takes some getting used to that the car is on while the motor is not.

I do like playing with the start sometimes to see how long I can delay the ICE starting. So far I am only at 25mpg on my second tank, up from the 19 on my first tank. I think I like the power too much to focus on the fuel economy.

Congratulations. I look forward to reading about your thoughts of the switch from PAWS to SH.

Did the dealer treat you well for upgrading or did they sell you the SH at list and screw you on the trade? The PAWS units just sit on their lot so I can't imagine they were too keen to pick one up on trade.

Same here.

Mine has softened a little at 20,800 miles but it is still much better than most cars, even with that much wear on it.

The Sport Hybrid system on the NSX is just like ours, keeping the brakes pre-charged all of the time.

Using the brakes for charging the batteries, though....I don't know, but there might be the side effect of accelerated brake wear. Mine seem to be wearing faster than I thought they would, but of course it's hard to tell if it's because of the pre-charging and extra wear associated with charging the batteries (if there is any wear because of that at all), or it is because it is such a heavy car.

I'll tell you one thing, though: Don't let that hard brake pedal fool you.

This is a very heavy car, and just because the brake pedal is hard doesn't mean you're going to be stopping this heavy monster more quickly.

A few laps and you'll realize...this is a damned heavy car.

If I had to pick one single thing I would change about this car's performance features, it'd be better brakes.

I agree, i need to try the "High Force" setting of the reactive force pedal to see if it makes a difference.....I feel like it will end up just being an annoyance......

Thank you Limelight! The dealer was awesome plain and simple. They took thousands of the SH, and they gave me a very good price on my P-AWS. I would have kept the P-AWS, if the numbers did not make sense. I took the advise of all the SH owners here, and did not drive one until the deal was done..... As TampaRLX-SH says "you drive it, you buy it".......

I am glad you mention this, because coming from the P-AWS initial feel is that the SH stops much better. I will keep this in mind, when i start driving it more aggressively. Also one big difference on the brake pedal feel between the P-AWS and the SH is that on the P-AWS the pedal had a 8th of an inch (or maybe a little more) play when you first stepped on it. One of the very few things i disliked on the P-AWS.

you should have less brake wear with charging. It uses the elec motors to brake for charging. I assume real brakes apply as brakes are applied more aggressively

Thank you miner! Yes they treated me really well......i had also purchased my 2015 P-AWS from them. I have not taken any pics yet, because it was raining when i picked her up....

Thank you fsmith! Although i did not have any problems with the infotainment system in my P-AWS, the one in the SH is about 30%-40% faster! Also the information it provides (song titles, etc) is vastly improved from the 2014-2015 one, and the touchscreen feels much better to the touch......All this is just preliminary, since I've only had the car for a few days. As for the surround camera, i am having a little trouble getting used to it.......too much information on the screen at once:-).

I did notice a couple of things that my P-AWS did not do:

1. After you reverse, and start going forward there is a single click sound coming from the drivers front wheel. I suspect it is the brake pad shifting, as my MDX does the same thing. It happens only once after you reverse....
2. There is a click-popping sound coming from the passengers rear wheel well sometimes, when you are taking a turn. This happens either when you are on the brakes, or off the brakes.
The service department made an appointment for this Thursday to check everything out.

What about turn radius in SH compared to PAWS? PAWS is way better (smaller radius) than my RL.

Congrats pgeorg. I've had mine a month and 2 days and I'm 24 miles shy of 2,500 miles! Let's just say with this car I make excuses to go somewhere that is how much I enjoy driving it. You will get used to the starting "process"... in fact when I drive the wife's 14 MDX Advance it seems odd now!
