Did they ever fix the PAWS suspension/ rattle underbody problem?
I have been reading on this site for days and everything I can read. (sometimes even reading it twice). From what I have gathered there is No fix for the noise and you have to live with what you got. IF the noise is bad after 30K miles imagine what it would be at 200K miles or 6-8 years from now. The next car I am going to get will be with me maybe 10 years. I have looked on complaint websites and saw that one person ended up in a ditch because the rear suspension went out. I Don't see any recalls for a front suspension just a rear bolt one. I don't think replacing those bolts will fix the problem. I have even seen that the Sport hybrid can make clunk noises in the back. If this problem is indeed a problem, I don't care what the car cost it isn't worth it. I want to go and get that loaded 14 very very bad but after reading all these things tonight (I read them before but ignored it but came back to it). The RLX is a luxury car and can't be making all these noises. If this can't be fixed let me know.

The only way to know if your potential car has a clunk is to test drive it. It is not in every car. The TSB appears to help the issue for the most part. Can't help you any better than that. If you can't get there to test drive it, maybe a forum member in the area will do you a solid and pre-test it for you.
There was a rear suspension bolt issue back when the car was first released. That was fixed in a hurry and no one complains of it now.

I am a bit lost, how do you know it isn't in every car. I haven't seen one person with the PAWS that doesn't have it? I haven't seen anyone with PAWS say that they don't have that issue. I have seen one or two that said it fixed it or atleast temporarly fixed it. Which TSB fixes the suspension besides the bolt one? I haven't seen one.

Hello
Just wanted to chime in to let you know that my 2014 Acura RLX Advance does not have any suspension issues. I was well aware of it beforehand and made sure to test drive it extensively and listened for any issues - which there were none. To this day, I still keep the music low in case it pops up, that way I can have it addressed under the 4 year warranty.
If memory serves, the person whose suspension went out did so because the techs did not secure the bolt properly, so it is not a common issue to worry about.
I have been happy with my purchase (only regret is that I did not get the hybrid thanks to Acura's wonky ways grrrrrrr) but I have had no major issues to report & now that we are back on summer gas, I have been averaging ~26mpg, up from ~24 in the winter.
Just be sure to text drive the RXL carefully and extensively to make sure it has no issues and you should be fine.
Good luck!

No one here on this forum knows for certain the exact details. All we know for certain is that it was a wide enough problem that Acura released a TSB, which fixes the rattle/clunk, but does not fully address the "harsh ride" issues. At least not fully addressed when compared to the ride quality of the lower priced TLX.
The TSB will tell you if it was for "all" 2014 models or if it was for a specific range of VIN numbers.
The harsh ride issues are supposedly resolved by a complete redesign of the suspension in the 2016 models.

My original RLX Advance did not have the problem, either.

The replacement of the front struts on my 2014 did not correct the clunk and rattle. Actually, the tsb repair was the second time they were replaced. Some have reported that it did.
Also, there is no tsb for the rear struts, which clunk and rattle. There is no fix available for this.
The suspension for 2016 has been redesigned with numerous "enhancements". No idea whether any/all of these correct the "loose lumber" defect.
My sense is that if you test drive the car over rough roads under 40 mph, you will know whether it exhibits the noise and vibration. At higher speeds it either does not occur or is masked by road and wind noise. Not clear.
Hope this helps.

I would also add that you really need to try and get an extended test drive on any 2014 you are considering purchasing. Try to see if they can loan you the vehicle for the weekend so you can spend some solid quality time checking out every aspect of the car. You need to be able to take the car through a variety of different road conditions, including both rural and urban locations, particularly through inner city areas where roads tend to be less than optimal. This will help you get a more accurate sense for whether or not you feel the suspension on that particular vehicle is suitable to your taste.
I would also suggest making sure you do your test drives with the radio off so that you get an accurate sense for the NVH conditions, since driving with the radio off is not abnormal and part of any normal driving conditions.
Good luck.

I just pulled the trigger on a 2015 PAWS Advance this weekend. Put 400 miles on it for the drive home from where I purchased it. I noticed no suspension issues or noises at all. Compared to my 2005 the ride is noticeably smoother and quieter.

Glad to see more 2015 owners popping up on this forum. Hopefully in the coming months there will be some 2016 owners here who can comment on the improved suspension.
I am almost certain that next Spring I will be trading my ZDX for an RLX. I plan to enjoy my Z for another year while waiting until better deals can be had on the 2016's (or if there will be a massive 2017 MMC announced). If not, I will settle for a used low mileage 2014 or 2015 Advance.

If you don't mind me asking what did you pay for your 2015 Advance without taxes, transportation and handling. Just curious since I paid 56.7k for mind back in Sept 2014 and it may help other folks consider buying it since the price has probably drop now that the 2016 are out? Also, welcome it was getting lonely here, I think I was the only 2015 on this forum for awhile and all the folks want to talk about is the 2014 SH AWD

Hi,
I bought a 2015 RLX Advanced, BWP/Seacoast on Saturday. Will be picking it up sometime this week, because i bought it in MA and waiting for them to get my NY reg-plates.
Took it for a test drive on some rough roads, and everything was quite!

I own a 2014 RLX Tech with 36k miles. I do not have any suspension issues, but then again I did purchase mine used and so many early problems were addressed by the previous owner.
I took the car for an extended test drive over the weekend because I wanted to experience the car in my world, and not just some predetermined route by the dealership. I listened carefully to everything, and I tried out every system I could think of to ensure my purchase was in tip-top shape.
I had to have several TSB issues addressed with the dealer after I got it, but not because anything was wrong, but rather because of some helpful fellow owners on this site who suggested I have the TSB's handled.

And don't forget to thank your 2014 RLX PAWS beta-testers for helping Acura to get things minty-fresh and nice for 2015.
You're not alone any more, yay! Now there are four 2015 PAWS owners here. Hopefully more will join you.

The price I paid before taxes, transportation, and handling was $49,085. This included the protection package and a rear spoiler. Been looking since August of last year. With the 2016 hitting the dealers lots felt the time was right to get a great deal on the color combo I was interested in. I think I was successful.
I know this has been beaten to death, but there was simply no need for so many trims on the RLX. One trim fully loaded priced at $50k would've sufficed.

After just scrolling through these posts it seems like most of the people that posted that are reporting no issues with the suspension live in areas where the roadways are paved. i live in ny and i hate driving my rlx through these messed up streets. i have to brace myself for every bump in the road and when i hit a real bad one i pray that i don't have a flat. The suspension is horrible and i will be filing a lemon suit in the near future

One of the new posters above is from the NYC metro, only a few miles north of the Bronx, and reported no issues, bronx.
Did you bring your car in for the TSB, bronx? I don't remember off the top of my head.

Keep on Acura about it. You're the third person on the forum who reported that the issue wasn't fixed. One of those people initially reported success but more recently reported a return of the problem. I'm sure Acura will take a keen interest in this.

2014 rlx paws suspension noises
Hello,
I have a 2014 RLX PAWS with 12,XXX and I'm having noise issues in the suspension. I took it to the acura dealership and they confirmed that the front struts needed replacement. So they ordered the front damper kit 5/29/15. Acura tech line said the parts are on back order and have no ETA. I even placed a claim with client relations which was no help, they just gave me the run around and said they had no ETA on the parts too. But i finally got a call from the parts dept today 7/21/15 and they said the new struts are going to be released first week of August and i might be getting them in 2nd week of August. So I'm going to have to wait almost 2 1/2 months to get my RLX driving smooth again. I can't believe Acura dropped the ball on the RLX like this!! Makes me not want a Acura again!! Probably going to buy a BMW now

Welcome to the forum! Sorry you are having this issue. At least Acura has still been working on the problem.

The short answer to the thread opening question is definitely not. Some cars are less affected, some drivers don't notice. Carefully test drive over undulating surfaces and minor potholes at 25 to 40mph. I seriously, seriously regret not knowing that was needed when I got the 2014 tech. The one you choose might happen to be a good one.

Eman8715, Your post of 7/21 stated 'new parts available' 2nd week of August' to try to fix the suspension rattle problem.
Any update, since the 2nd week of August has come and gone?
And as mgalbr22 well states, the problem is indeed at all 4 wheels.

Front struts making a clunking noise
Acura replaced my front struts. It was actually a front damper kit that i've been waiting on for almost 3 months. But i still notice a clunking noise coming from the front struts. I took it to acura and they said they didn't hear anything. I think the noise is getting worse. Going to take it back to acura soon. Is it the TSB thats making that noise??
