2015 RLX coming out of park?

2015 RLX coming out of park?
I've gone gone over this a million times in my head. There just isn't another answer besides the vehicle came out of park.
Parked on a slight include, forward facing upward several feet from the garage with the vehicle still running - the vehicle crawled uphill and pinned me to the house on my way BACK to the driver side after having left the vehicle for several minutes.
i have searched the internet and cannot find any other
instance of an RLX coming out of park. NO I did not leave the vehicle in drive. I have to reverse out of the driveway after picking up my son - it never makes sense for me to stay in drive when I have to back down anyway. Even if I had - why wouldn't the emergency brake have engaged when I took off my seatbelt & opened the door? If it was still in drive with brake hold on - which I do use on occasion at a drive through or stop and go traffic - again there is a warning that displays if you try to take off your seatbelt - and once again the emergency break should engage.
I saw a recall from Honda this week over breaking issues on the Civic, citing no injuries have occurred due to the issue. Maybe none have been reported? Mine has been, but of course it's not part of "that"
recall.
Dont get me wrong, I love my car. Even when I regain use of my legs, I don't know if I will be able to drive the car without fear. This is my 9th Acura, I have been extremely brand loyal and pleased with my Acuras over the years. I still own my 1995 Legend Coupe. To someone else's point, there are not many 2015's on the road. If anyone else has had break or transmission problems, please reply.

I have had two RLX, and I have not had a problem like that or heard anything like that before.
I'm not sure how the car would slip from P to D and skip R and N, but perhaps I'm not understanding the story line.
Re-reading the story, I'm still not sure if you're saying the car moved forwards or backwards.
I hope you're doing well, and will be able to walk around well very soon.

I did see an issue with some Acuras not going in park as it looked or not coming out of park once placed in park.
Just unsure why for safety reasons the parking brake did not automatically engage regardless of what happened once the driver seatbelt was released and the driver side door opened.
And thank you - I too am hoping for speedy therapy and recovery!

So the car was on when you left it? the only logical reason was somehow the car didn't go into park and was in drive the whole time. also I'm not familiar with the emergency brake but basically you're saying if the car was in drive and you pulled off your seatbelt and opened the door, the emergency brake would engage? You can try and test that in an empty parking lot or something.

I don't think there is a setting to auto-engage emergency brake
For cars without transmission lever - like most EVs, most have logic to put car in park when door opened. That actor that was killed had a car where this logic was not employed. That is a desing flaw IMO

Agree as a possible design flaw
Reading the owners manual - the Advanced version of the vehicle does have more safety features when it comes to brakes and the ACC function.
Also, the car will and can apply the parking break if:
you are using automatic break hold and:
-breaking is kept for more than 10 minutes
-drivers seatbelt is unfastened
-the engine is turned off
If it can do that, I don't see any reason the vehicle should not be able to recognize the vehicle not "really" in park with the seatbelt off and the door open.
Again, just my opinion.
We went with the tech package because of safety features.

I did not realize that feature was there.
I did not see anything that said car had to be in park for feature to work. They way I read it is: If Auto Brake hold is on and seatbelt is unfastened, emergency brake is applied. Unless those are "and" conditions and all 3 have to be true.
Do you have Advanced version or Tech version?

Technology Package
The vehicle is the Technology Package, which has brake hold, but not ACC - Adaptive Cruise Control.
I looked up Brake Hold and Parking Break in the 2015 Acura RLX PAWS Owners Manual.
