Windows based video joining software?
Anyone have a recommendation for a (?free?) fast program to join hundreds of video clips?
I have hundreds of DVR/surveillance videos in AVI format and I would like to join them all. I have OSX with iMovie but it's on a i5 with 8GB RAM. Would like to be bale to work a little faster than that on a more powerful machine, but that means Windows.
Any ideas?

Thanks, I saw that, but I hate those lists. They usually have a bunch of bloatware/spyware programs with 43 poor-english reviews by paid reviewers...

Adobe Premiere Elements is probably worth investing in, you can get a free trial

Thanks and thanks.
I am not going to buy it because this is a one off project... I just have thousands of recovered DVR fragments all named by the exact date and time they were recorded (so they will align easily in folder view alphabetically and I want to join them all on a "per camera" basis to make it easier to view.
Will try movie maker. Let's see how it handles 8000 files at once...

Stogie, your creeper skills are quite formidable! 1000s of surveillance videas, all alphabetically organized...
I don't know if it's a viable alternative, but there's a program called Acid Pro that would let you splice videos together. I used to use it for music so I have no idea how capable it is with video, but I do know it is capable of splicing vids

Uh, per camera is about 70GB each, spanning a week of recording.
Nine cameras total.
You wonder why I buy HDDs ten or twenty at a time?

That's actually not bad for AVI less than 500mb per hour of video

Hmm, I have some videos from the days of usenet that need to be linked together. That's when getting porn took skill. Getting all 10 pieces of a 5 minute video wasn't easy.

Premiere Elements might be better but I bet they put a watermark on any video made using the trial software
