Got an update today. I assume its the 7.0 Nougat. Said it would take 20 mins but its going on an hour. When I started update phone turned off and hasn't turned back on.
I've tried holding power button to restart with no luck. Hope nothing is wrong..

Samsung's Note 7 reportedly making comeback... with a smaller battery
February 21, 2017
Samsung might not be done with the Galaxy Note 7 after all, according to The Investor, citing "unnamed Samsung sources."
The company is rumored to sell refurbished Note 7 models with smaller batteries. Samsung is estimated to have lost $5 billion total from recalling and then stopping production of the Galaxy Note 7 after two separate battery flaws caused some units to catch fire. Selling refurbished models that avoid these internal errors could help the tech giant recoup some losses.
The refurbished Note 7 phones -- which might also have a smaller case size in addition to a shrunken battery -- could arrive as soon as June, according to the report. It isn't clear which markets would receive the phones.
Samsung declined to comment on the rumor.

I had read that they might still sell in Vietnam and another Asian country.

Well if they would put slightly larger batteries in the phones that last more than a day to start with at least then when you lose some battery life you would only be back to have a day of battery life which would still be good.

I do buy a new phone every year. I feel I use it more than any device in my life. I haven't bought a new computer in 8-10years. For what I do when I need it it works fine. Just depends on what seems to work the best. Going to try and hold out for the Pixel2 and just make my Pixel my work phone when that happens though. Unless the Note 8 is really great.

Just broke the screen on my Nexus 5x. A little research has it at "really bad" build quality. Damn.
Thinking of buying the Samsung S6 active since I am always in constructions zones these days.

I did a quick search to find a replacement screen for the 5x and came upon a site that had a bunch of 5x owners screen break without too much effort.
Mine broke after falling about two feet and saw it land screen down. Screen protector and case on the phone.
I like the phone and the notifications, after some research I chose the 5x, I also owned the Nexus 5 previous. I was looking at the Nexus 6 but too big.

Hi yall back from busy and crazy ville....rumor has it that there will be a Pixel with a screen > 6" in the near future... Im sure it will cost a mint... LOL.. most of the next gen flagships will push pushing close to $1000... I am not sure what to make of this.
BTW... finally got a sim card for my $65 phablet... works amazing well... very fast / clear vocal quality... also added new cable based wifi to the house so it just flies with that on.
...carry on fine chaps!
and happy St. Patrick's day!

Looks like $750 starting price. If only the battery was replaceable. It actually shrunk from the S7+ from 3600 mAh. I'm reading ATT will do BOGO plus throw in VR Gear headset, S3 watch for $50.

theyre considering selling them as refurbs since there were complaints by environmentalists on what they're gonna do with the 4 million recalled handsets.
also to try and recover their loss of 5 billion from the whole fiasco.
Go Giants
They aren't going to sell them in the US
They'll show up on eBay and/or Amazon's marketplace

but is what Doom is saying real? Have they blacklisted all the Note 7 IMEI's?

Love the S8+'s looks.
But gonna wait for a few months just to make sure it wont blow up.

If they do, those new IMEI #s won't be on any blacklist.
http://www.theverge.com/2017/3/27/15...ling-announced
Ahead of the Samsung Galaxy S8 launch, the company has released a statement regarding its plans to recycle Note 7 devices. The process comes in three parts: save salvageable components such as camera modules and semiconductors, extract metal parts with the help from “eco-friendly” third-party companies, and sell refurbished devices “where applicable.”
The announcement appears to walk back on what Samsung initially pledged last fall, when it said it would dispose of the Note 7 and had no plans to repair or refurbish them. Instead, Samsung has confirmed it will work with local authorities and carriers to sell it as a refurbished device, rumored to come with a smaller battery to prevent it from overheating and catching fire. The company said available markets are to be determined as they work with local regulators to approve of the sale.
“The objective of introducing refurbished devices is solely to reduce and minimize any environmental impact,” Samsung told The Verge in a statement. It also hinted that the phone may be renamed entirely when more details are unveiled. “The product details including the name, technical specification and price range will be announced when the device is available.

so, I've only had the S7 Edge since last June, and still loving it... best battery I've ever had in any smartphone... And despite what a lot of people say that eventually the battery life starts to drop... I haven't seen that yet. Then again... I've also read theories that say if you use the non-fast wireless charging pads, the battery tends to live longer (which is what I use)
Anyways, so... the past 3+ years (going on 4), I've been on Wind Mobile here in Canada (recently changed to "Freedom Wireless" ). It's a smaller carrier, their plans are great... but the downside is... their coverage are kinda meh'. One of the main reasons why I've stayed with them is that I get a whopping 10GB/month of data... AND I have unlimited talk/text to the US... I call my sister and mom on a regular basis... But I guess Telus is now changing their plans so that I'll have either 4GB or 7GB of data (I really only need about 4 a month), AND I'll be able to call US....AND, my data will be good for the US when I visit with NO extra charges. So, I'm going to be switching over to Telus... I've ordered the S8+ and should be getting it on launch day. The S7 Edge, I still owe money on, I'll just get it unlocked and sell it

Since last June? just wait and see... give it another 6 months.
The battery thing is not something that is exclusive to Samsung.
