Non-contact injury...when the player goes down in a heap...that's when you know it was some serious shit. Good luck to him rehabbing his way back.

^I blame you for my fantasy loss this week. Lost by 1 and the Giants kicker had 0 points. No but seriously I was down like 35 with Colin K and Vernon Davis and almost came back. I hate Vernon because just like Tony Gonzalez, every year I own them, they don't do shit and get hurt. I should've started my backup TE Jared Cook who had more points. But my real fuck up was starting Kendall Wright coming off a big game over mediocre Andre Johnson. I must've been high when I decided that.

...so, at this point, of the top teams, which teams do you guys are "pretenders" and which are "contenders"? I know, it may be too early, but still... you kinda get a good idea

As am I. Rivers, Murray, A. Brown, Detroit D all top 2 at their position. If Jimmy Graham was Jimmy Graham I'd have the top TE as well. Hopefully it stays this way

I'd say Seattle and San Fran are contenders even though the Cards have the record. Maybe Philly and Green Bay but you can't count out Aaron Rodgers. Dallas has to win in the playoffs again to turn me. Denver, Indy, and NE in the AFC. Chargers and Bengals I'm still iffy on.

Speaking of Detroit D, my friend in another league dropped them and kept Cincinatti (-2, -2.5 in last 2 weeks) as his other D. I think he was high or drunk or both when he did that.

As of right now.. contenders are Denver, Seattle, Dallas, Indy, and I think NE can bounce back.

Pretenders... SF, Cinci. Hard to say about Philly.. will have to wait on them. And who knows with SD, yea they are playing great now but could always fuck up and suck balls later on, they are good at doing that.

You better believe Dallas is for real! GO COWBOYS! (I haven't said that in a long ass time..)

P. Manning
D. Murray
Cobb
Michael Floyd
L. Miller
Gostowski (absolute BEAST last 2 weeks)
Detroit

I had Z. Stacy on my bench. Waste of space. I'd trade him for a twinkie. Dropped him and picked up McKinnon from waivers. Should give me a good RB3 option.

I tend to think of contenders and pretenders in terms of consistency. To me a contender has a fighting chance to win even on a bad day (and are solid on both sides of the ball), and a pretender needs to have a good day to have a fighting chance (and more times than not have a glaring weakness on off or def).

I think contenders are Seattle, Denver, Indy, Green Bay.

I think pretenders are Dallas, Eagles, SF, Cards, Pats - only because I think there is great potential for inconsistent play (on the team as a whole or the QB). Actually Dallas with a consistent QB would be a no-brainer contender I think. Pats are figuring things out and optimizing what they have (again). They could be dangerous. I can't shake the feeling the Eagles are living off big plays - which eventually get figured out.

Can't make this damn decision: should I start Mike Wallace or Michael Floyd this week? Standard/Non-PPR league.

The Seahawks GM made a big mistake on that one. They got Harvin for a 1st and a 3rd... we got Boldin for a 6th he's now our #1 receiver, and the Hawks get a conditional "mid-round pick"... 3rd at best?

How is that a big mistake? He's a major factor for them getting to and winning a Super Bowl.

Wait, what?

In the 2013 season, he only had one reception. His hip was reinjured and he didn't play again until the SB that season, where he returned a kickoff for a TD. No other scores. The Seahawks won 43-8. I hardly think he was the reason for their win... it was easily that defense.

I would know because I was trying to add him to my fantasy team all last year

Also, his yards/rec. average is 6.0 this season he hasn't done anything. The only thing the Seahawks have to show for it is three reversed TDs against your Redskins.

He was injured most of last year and they made it to the Superbowl without him (yes, I know, he played in the Superbowl but the way the game went, I'm pretty sure they would have still won had he sat out)

Contenders

SD - Philip Rivers is playing out of his mind. and that SD secondary did a worst-to-first.

SF - showing bias, I'd say no. They are missing Aldon Smith and Bowman, two players among the best at their positions. Also missing a starting corner. Yet the defense is top tier. Offense has looked the most dynamic I've seen them since Harbaugh took over. Having depth is nice.

DAL - holy shit, they are scary. To win like that at Century Link... I always clown on Romo because of how much it bothers Cowboys fans but he finally has a consistent o-line and is playing great. Their defense is also looking really good. They utterly shut down Harvin and made Wilson look like a lost puppy in his home stadium.

NE - Tom Brady healthy and Belichick coaching = they are always contenders.

DEN - PFM. It's not fair that they have Von Miller and Demarcus Ware.

Pretenders

SEA - their best receiver is now Doug Baldwin. Their o-line is in shambles. The LOB now isn't even a top 5 secondary this season, IMO.

CIN - I just don't have faith in Dalton, at least come playoff time. Their defense is great, but then came the dismantling courtesy of the Pats

PHI - I would say they were contenders after the anal raping they gave the Giants, but McCoy needs to show up more often. Their special teams have been saving their asses. Foles is nowhere near as sharp as he was last year, and I don't think it's just from the lack of DJ.

When I thought about it, after 5 games the Hawks were 4-1 without him last year, 3-2 with him. As I watched the Dallas game it was surprising how little they threw to him. He was more of a running back than anything else. So why would the obvious #1 receiver on the team never actually run routes and catch passes. Maybe he wasn't able to practice enough.

But if he was causing problems in the locker room then we're probably better off without him in spite of his talent. Glad I didn't drop $250 on a #11 jersey....

It will be short lived.
Wins against mediocre teams with subpar run defense.
DM longevity is being tested with all this duty.
And Romo...because Romo

If there is one guy more guaranteed than a Jay-Cutler-INT-special when it matters, it's ANTHANEE Romo.
