Gotta love International Hockey!

This is fun to watch with the bigger ice, quicker pace and long (two line?) breakout passes.

US did well against Finland - Hope they continue to win against a team like Russia. It's a different game with the added ground to cover but it looks like the US is doing all right!
Didn't expect Canada to lose already.

Man that was some great hockey tonight USA vs Russia. The NHL should incorporate some of the International rules, it really makes it faster and more exciting. The two line passes, the quick face offs, the quick whistle on icing... And its too bad the NHL rinks are Olympic size!

Totally agree. Moved along very fast and focused on skill, not goon tactics. That doesn't mean it wasn't physical, I saw some crunching checks, but none of the nonsense you see in the NHL.

I LLLOOOVE hockey and the Olympics highlight what an awesome sport it is.

So true. The best thing about Olympic hockey is that there is no fighting. Sure the checks are there, but that's hockey. Watching Olympic hockey reminds me of playing house league when I was younger- the hockey was good, played with heart, and aside from some solid checking there were never any fights.

One of the funnier things to come out of the Canada-Sweden game was the matchup of Curtis Joseph (Goalie) and Pat Quinn (Coach) vs. Mats Sundin (Center). They are all on the same team, the Leafs, back in the NHL. Really fun to watch the dynamics as they play each other.

As for Canada losing so early, thank goodness it didn't count for much. The Canadian team, IMHO, is too old to win the gold, but they'll sure as he|| make it interesting!

The US won again today, 8-1 over Belarus, and will most likely take the top seed in they're division. They look so much better in these olympics than those in Nagano. I have tried to watch most of the games since there is so much action going on. Even though I'm rooting for the US, I'm also pulling for the Devils players that are on the other teams..

Holy crap, that was an amazing 3rd period! I turned it on when it was 3-1 and the US just poured it on.

I have never been a hockey fan, but with Carolina acquiring the 'Canes a couple of years ago and working with a guy who played in college, it's really grown on me!! I've enjoyed these Olympic matches as well. I just wish every time my GF forces me to watch some prissy little guys flailing around in figure skates, a big pissed off hockey player would come skating into the rink and lay him out on one of the boards...THAT would be entertainment!!!

Go C-A-N-A-D-A go!

Canada just beat Belarus to go into the Olympics men's hockey finals with either USA/Russia on Sunday. Looks like USA at this point (3-0)

U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S-A!

Honestly though, it means nothing anymore because soon it will become like Men's Basketball in the Olympics. America has ruined the Olympics by including our professionals in the ranks and robbing the true amateurs of the experience...we just did it because we could win gold medals with amateurs anymore...

Should be a great game! Both teams are playing strong right now and I couldn't think of 2 better teams to be playing for the gold.

,

However, both Canada and the USA have all pros on their team, which will make for a good final game. Also, most of the teams in this tournament, consist of the best and most are pros.

Hmmmm! Sounds tempting, but it seems that anytime I bet money, I'm doomed to lose. therefore, I won't take your generous offer so that the USA can kick some A$$!
edit: Oh yeah, USA (4-2)!

Well, this was a great Olympic hockey tournament with many good teams - Czech's, Swede's, Russian's and even Finland and Belawhatever had great teams. I am glad to see the Canada in the finals and hope to see a great hockey game.

But what's up with The Great One? The pressure got to him? Those were some stupid comments by Gretzky... :wow:

Think The Great One was trying to fire up the team and it looks like it worked against Belarus (a former Soviet state).

My fridge is filled I am ready for The Game.

Getting ready for the game. Have my Molson Canadians chilling in the fridge, Neil Young, Barenaked Ladies and Tragically Hip on my mp3 play list, and I have this strong urge to apologize to everyone in sight. Sorry, guys, just had to say that. Oops, sorry for saying I'm sorry. Did I mention I'm wearing a toque?!
Sorry...
