liking the WITB post, but it may get merged here.
anyone have memorable shots they remember hitting? best shot of my life so far I think, was at a par 4, uphill hole. hooked drive into the left trees, landed on top of pine straw, 204 to the pin (partner had a GPS). pured my 4-iron and it landed 3 feet away from the pin, made birdie.

Three Wood: Original Taylor Made Burner
5 Wood: Original Taylor Made Burner
Hybrid:
Irons: 1963 Burke "Ryder Cup" blades, reground soles, weighted, TT stiff golds, GP cord
Wedges: newer Cleveland wedges, 48/54/60, TT stiff golds, GP cords
Putter: Scotty Cameron (Tigers original 'anser2'), GP tour velvet
Bag: My HS varsity Ping 'Hoofer' circa 2000. Still love it!
Golf Ball: Pro V1...
Handicap: Was a scratch golfer...but it's been years
I want new irons and woods though. My hands aren't as strong as they used to be. I want Titleist MB 716 Tour blades and a new set of smaller 'tour' oriented woods.

Scratch golfer.
Met only a few scratch golfers over the years, golfed with mostly single digits or teens. I was down around 15 for a while but was golfing a lot then.
Ditching the Jumbo woods got me to strike the ball better and ditching the blades for oversize also helped.

Driver: Taylor Made R7 TP 10.5 degrees, Variable weights set for low trajectory, stiff shaft reshafted with shaft from R11 after the original shaft snapped off at the driving range 3 winters ago.
Three Wood: Adams Tight Lies Tour 14.5 degrees / Taylor Made R7 TP15 degree (The Adams is winning to replace this though right now as the last of my old fairway woods)
Five Wood: Adams Tight Lies 19 degrees
Hybrid: Adams Pro Hybrid 23 degrees
Irons: Titliest 690.CB Forged
Wedges: Titliest Vokey 54 Low Bounce, 59 High Bounce
Putter: Titliest Scotty Cameron Studio Design 3
Bag: Old Titliest stand bag. Need to replace it though cause the stand is pretty much useless anymore so it is basically a cart bag now.
Golf Ball: Primarily play with ProV1 or Srixon ZStar. However, I don't think I have bought golf balls like ever and literally play with the ones I find as crazy as that is. I play some really nice local courses and sometimes on slow days just look through the trees and can come home with a dozen or so. My parents also live on a golf course on a hole with over the water par 3. In the summer I will dive for golf balls. Last summer netted over 250 of them in 2 days. I could probably help my game if I bought new golf balls but hey I spend the money on playing more rounds instead.
Handicap: 8-10 Back in high school when I played for our school team and played a lot. Now I am more of 14-16.

Got a golf course a block from my house. As a kid used to take all the golf balls we found and sell them for 10 cents a pop at the entrance of the golf course. Still will wander in the woods no matter where I golf to pick up a ball or three.
All the Pro V`s are in my bag.

I'm not crazy about scramble tournaments. I only end up using like 4 clubs all day.
Dont get me wrong I love the atmosphere and goofing around with everyone for 6 hours, but as someone who is trying to get better at golf, tournaments suck

I play some scrambles a year, they are fun for sure and some of them are charitable and in one that benefits my church.
So, in one tournament I was hell bent on getting the long drive award, killed the ball, knew I had it. In the clubhouse after guy comes up to me and says he got me by two inches.

what factors go into deciding whether to roll the ball on a chip vs get it in the air? I have been struggling lately on short chips where there is not a lot of green to work with and the area past the pin is sloping downhill. tried rolling a few onto the green with my 9 iron and it just catches the slope and I'm further away for a putt vs the original 3-5 yard chip. then i try to pop it up with my 58 or 64 wedge and risk blading it...

If in secondary cut around the green in that situation I would be more inclined to use my 3 wood or 5 wood.

Playing a lot of links golf growing up i always preferred a little 8 iron, ball well hind back foot, hands forward and low on grip and little "punch" on it.
Or depening on the condition of the land between the ball and green, no harm in a hefty putt...
Although i do second the 3 wood consideration from Chadpinder.

Oh, btw, warriorgolf just sent me a promo for a lob wedge for free just pay s&h. so 16 bucks. they try to sell you on a bunch of other clubs but for 16 bucks i figured hell why not. its prob not gonna replace my RAC but i can always cut it down and give it to my kiddo...
1-800-620-8523 - code SH52.
I dont endorse this company or its products, just throwing it out there, dont blame me if product is crap...but 16 bucks...

never tried chipping with 3/5 woods. maybe i will try that next time. i have had success rolling it up if there are no obstructions with my 9 iron. holed out for par last round it was sweet. i just have to concentrate on accelerating through the ball on chips. yea I'm talking about the first cut of rough (secondary cut) just past the fringe, trying to get better from there.
