How many of you guys/gals walk a course. When I was in grad school in Columbia, SC, a muni course (Linrick) had a student rate of $8 for 18 holes walking. We'd play in 100 degree heat and 80% humidity. Finish-up soaking and wet in sweat. But my game was the sharpest ever. I guess walking leads to better concentration.

Now we ride and drink beer... and we THINK we are better golfers with better clothes, equipment, etc.

I always walk unless the course has a cart-only rule. It helps my game a lot.

When playing 18, I tend to ride. I'll walk the 9-holer, though. I think it's more of a time thing for me.

I walked yesterday. I don't mind it, as long as there isn't a 200 yard walk to get to the next tee..

I'm hoping the heat breaks in time to go out for my birthday next month. I'm drenched in sweat in the shed, I'd die playing in this.

I play when I can, although not as much the past few years.

Taylormade R580 Driver
Cobra Hybrid (3-iron replacement)
Ping I3+ Irons (3-PW)
TaylorMade RAC Wedges (54* & 60*)
TM Rossa Mezza Monza Putter
Pro-V1 or NXT Tour Balls

Most of the clubs are modified and/or customized.

A few years back, I was able to play and practice quite a bit. Got my index down to 11.3. Personal best 18 = 79; Personal best 9 = 37.

Currently playing in the area of an 18 index and shooting, say, 87 - 97; about 92 or so on average.

Shot 46 on a par 30 9-hole, with a birdie. Ugh. Greens in regulation = 1/9, that may be why. hahaha.

I meant to go out the weekend of my birthday, but still haven't had the chance. I'm hoping 9/9.

Damn, that's a decent score for par 36 LOL. I posted an 83 on a par 60 last Wednesday. I had several putts lip out.

did a little shopping on lunch break today. picked up 2-dozen Taylor Made TP Burner balls on sale (the silver package), and a 52-degrees gap wedge, Taylor Made RAC for $50. Guy at the store said it would be more useful than a 60 degree wedge for a high handicapper.

25 over on par 60 yesterday. 3 pars front 9 and 2 on the back. It's the couple triple bogeys that do me in

I think I may have asked this before, but someone recommend what I need to loft some good shots (degree, etc). I'll have a look at the used store before I play next week.

The greens are unkempt and I had several lip out. Make some, miss some. I made 2 putts over 10 feet which was good and everything within 3 feet. It's the 6-7 foot putts that are hit or miss.

Just shot my best non-tournament round yesterday. 67
The sad thing is that it should have been a 66 but I didn't get up and down on 18 for par.

How are golf yardages determined? If a hole is 350 yards, where are they measuring that from? I was a few feet off an uphill 285 yard green and a downhill 300 yard green off the drive.

played 9 holes yesterday. shot 12 over. improved by 4 strokes since the last time I was at that course...

bombed a drive 280 on a par 5, and then messed up my 2nd shot, ugh.

having trouble with long irons, especially out of the rough.

gonna get my bro a new putter for xmas.

which brand is good for under $100? I was looking at:

http://www.golfdiscount.com/taylorma...assics-putters TM Rossa Classic

and

http://www.golfdiscount.com/odyssey-...hot-xg-putters Odyssey White hot Blade

any other recommendations? he wants a blade putter... I think the rossa ghost blade looks sick but not worth an extra $50.

Met with my attorney yesterday so only had time for 9 holes on the Championship course. 4 bogeys, 1 par so not bad. 1 triple on the 4th hole killed me, I shanked the approach shot over the elevated green and had a challenging up-and-down chip on the way back. 13 over for 9 so not bad taking no mulligans.

bumping this. spring is almost here.

bro is graduating college, I am getting him a new set of irons. we basically decided on the burner 2.0s with steel shafts. Good?? I took a quick look at them today at Dick's, they look sick.

would you recommend any other iron sets by taylor made for a bogey golfer? the burner 2.0s are a newer version of the 2009 burners, and he doesn't need the superfast irons which are designed to help lift the ball for slower swing speeds.

they also had the superfast 2.0 driver and R11 driver. they look sick, with a white clubhead like the ghost putter.

he will probably end up buying the 2009 burner drive like me. haven't heard good things about the original superfast driver/woods.

But for putting the old three core Titliest balata is best to pull out of your pocket. I just broke about three rules of Golf in the last two posts... if caught.

Got to play yesterday. First time in months.

Got this for Christamas and used it for the first time:

It worked well. Ran on battery for 4+ hours no problem. Especially nice for poorly marked/measured courses.

So I managed to break my 8-iron, but not in the way you would think.

It was raining, I hit a shot, club flies/slips out of my hand, hits a tree, I cracked the graphite shaft underneath the handle. Ball lands a foot off the green, too...

At least 1) they were used clubs and 2) I never hit my 8 iron anyway.

Also I won a new 6-iron Burner 2.0 from the taylormade website contest! It's the graphite shaft one, not sure whether to hit it or sell it on ebay.

I got them used off ebay, I wanted to try the graphite, they are stiff-90 flex shafts. I had my grandfather's old irons previously with the true-temper steel shafts.

My next new set I buy will be steel
