Who's ready for College Football???

Report: Ohio State's Braxton Miller Moving to H-back, Wide Receiver | Eleven Warriors

REPORT: OHIO STATE'S BRAXTON MILLER MOVING TO H-BACK, WIDE RECEIVER
By Eric Seger on July 23, 2015 at 9:55p

Braxton Miller's athletic ability isn't something Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer can afford to keep off the field.

With that in mind it looks like Ohio State's doing everything it can to keep the two-time Big Ten Player of the Year between the lines this fall, even if that requires a move to a new position.

As first reported by the astute Pete Thamel of Sports Illustrated on Thursday, the superstar coming off a pair of surgeries to his throwing shoulder plans to move to H-back and wide receiver for the Buckeyes.

“For the most part, it’s going to be H-Back and punt return,” Miller told Thamel Thursday night. “It’s a long process to get back totally to throwing and throwing every day. This is the smarter thing for right now, God blessed me with a lot of talent and different opportunities. I’m going to have fun with that and still score a lot of touchdowns and help the team out and be dominant at that.”

Miller, one of the most decorated players in Ohio State history, said he hasn't completely ruled out playing quarterback, however.

Thamel reports that Miller told him he would "spend 80 percent of the time during training camp at receiver and 20 percent with the quarterbacks."

Miller told the Columbus Dispatch he planned to fight for the starting quarterback job at Ohio State once fully healthy, while also reaffirming his allegiance to his home state and the Buckeyes.

"God put me on this earth ... to be an athlete, and the first thing in mind is being a quarterback, and just be smart about what I do," Miller told the Dispatch.

According to Thamel, however, Miller's mindset has changed in response to a desire to get on the field, no matter where he plays, something the Ohio State staff can't help but be giddy about.

"Braxton Miller can play wide receiver as long as he wants to play it,” Ohio State receivers coach Zach Smith told Thamel. “His speed, strength, talent, commitment and, really, lifestyle will allow him to be like Joey Galloway. It’s going to be a matter of how quickly he grows into the position, but the sky is the limit for him.”

Meyer spoke July 10 at a charity event in Sandusky, Ohio, benefiting the Ginn Foundation on both his mindset with for the quarterback battle and Ginn Academy's own Cardale Jones. He also noted how thrilled he was to have Miller returning for one more season in Columbus.

"I love Braxton Miller. People forget I think because of the success last year what he's meant to our program," Meyer said. "Am I excited to have Braxton Miller back? Extremely. Very, very talented guy and good teammate."

And a teammate who shared the love for his peers in the Ohio State quarterback room to let the best man win the starting job — at least until Thursday.

"I really believe the reason Braxton came back, Cardale came back and J.T. fights so hard, they love each other," Meyer said. "They don't have to say they're always best friends all together, but they've been through so much together they don't want to let anybody down."

Thamel also reports that Miller asked Meyer about a potential switch three months ago, but wanted to keep it quiet until his shoulder healed further. As far as the NFL Draft is concerned next year, Miller wants to be considered as an athlete.

“I want to be the best at what I do,” Miller said. “Don’t look back. Keep looking forward. I appreciate everyone who supported me and was there for me form when I had surgery until now. I’m ready to put on that Scarlet and Gray and make some highlights.”

“I’M READY TO PUT ON THAT SCARLET AND GRAY AND MAKE SOME HIGHLIGHTS.”
– BRAXTON MILLER TO SI

His past highlights speak for themselves, but No. 5 seems prepared to add a few more to an already extensive reel.

“It’s going to be electric,” Miller said. “We had a great season last year, but we didn’t see anyone do off-the-wall type stuff. I’m sure guys miss seeing an explosive, 60-yard shake-and-bake run every once in a while.”

An Ohio State spokesman did not immediately respond to request for comment Thursday.

Thumbs down Shame on Baylor University

Cliffs:
- Samuel Ukwuachu was an All-American Freshman DE at Boise State. He was dismissed from the team when accounts of him becoming violent with his girlfriend were made known to the coaching staff. Boise State athletic officials requested a protective order for his girlfriend and roommate when he cut his hand punching out a window in a drunken rage. No charges were ever pressed.

- In 2013 he transferred to Baylor where Coach Briles and the athletes staff attempted to get a waiver for his transfer eligibility. Boise State refused to help facilitate any return to the playing field citing disturbing behavioral issues.

- In Oct. 2013, Ukwuachu told a female anquaintence he would take her to a late night party, but instead took her back to his apartment and raped her. The following day she went to a hospital and had a rape kit test administered which showed bleeding, redness, and frictional scarring. She was a scholarship freshman soccer player and claimed to be a virgin before the attack.

- She reported the incident to Baylor officials who conducted an "investigation" which consisted of interviewing the accused, the accuser, and a friend of each. The rape kit results were never intended to be part of the investigation. In the resulting trial, the judge deemed the Baylor investigation so poorly conducted the defense was unable to refer to it at all during trial.

- The victim reported the incident to the Waco PD the day after the event, and they took over 6 months to get the case to the DA who eventually found sufficient evidence to indict Ukwuachu in June 2014.

- Baylor removed Ukwuachu from all 2014 game plans but kept him in conditioning and strength drills citing "a violation of team rules". Waco sports outlets never bothered to run a story on the reason for Ukwuachu's benching even though a trip to the county court house would yield the two felony charges against him.

- A Baylor counselor diagnosed the victim with PTSD from the event. When she sought help avoiding her perpetrator on campus from the classes and tutoring schedules they shared, she was forced to change her schedule. She also found her soccer scholarship reduced for the 2014 school year. She has since transferred to another Texas college.

- When the Baylor DC was asked in early Aug about Ukwuachu, his comment regarded his anticipation of him playing this fall. No mention of the court case or a decline for comment was made.

- Last Thursday, Ukwuachu was found guilty by a jury on one count of sexual assault. He was sentenced by the judge to 6 months in jail and 10 years probation for a crime that carries a 2-20 year sentence.

The Harbus in NYC this morning in front of the News Corp building. Sorry for the poor photo, but the bus is very impressive. The "clothing" is made out of real "fabric", and not just a vinyl wrap.

WOW. What a difference Chavis makes! We can stop the run. We can stop the pass. We can TACKLE people! WE CAN TACKLE!!! 8 sacks in 1 game!

Myles Garrett is a fucking BEAST. Christian Kirk is insane. As good as Speedy Noil is... where the fuck was he?! Nowhere to be seen this game! What depth we have when Speedy is nowhere to be seen.

This season is for real.

Finally got to see the game. ^Couldn't agree more! Sat there thinking, "Why aren't they throwing it to Speedy."

Defense? Announcer said, "Defense has been their weak spot since they entered the SEC." What he meant to say was, "Defense has been their weak spot since oo7spy entered college (and really before that)." ASU head coach, "These are the best DEs we will see all season."

Fuckin' baby!

ASU and Tim, you have a good team. Keep your head up, guys, and go kick the shit out of USC and Oregon. Hell, kick the shit out of the rest of the PAC 12 and finish 12-1. I couldn't think of anything better.

Oh, and t.u. -vs- Notre Dame... could there ever be a more overrated matchup (besides USC -vs- N.D.)? Texas.

3 points, huh?

Nothing makes me happier than ND or a Texas college losing a football game, so this past weekend was bound to be a disappointment.

Everyone hates ND cus they suck at everything but are so overhyped at everything. All the time.

I think their women's basketball team is the only legit top ranked, but deservedly so team year in and year out?

SEC looking relatively average this year. Not looking forward to playing Ole Miss, Bama, or LSU though. Why do all the good ones play in the West?

Edit: Just saw the rankings. Somehow we dropped? I guess 42-3 at halftime and giving your young guys some reps isn't good enough. We need to show no mercy for 4 quarters?

The big teams should be punished for playing chumps to pump up their records.

I can agree with that to a point. That's why I was glad to see ASU in our out of conference schedule this year. I think your statement is especially true for a team in a weak conference like the SEC East. But at some point the small teams need chances to play big programs too. I also realize my post was largely nit picking. The CFB polls have about as much basis as the election polls do right now. After the Auburn game I heard from a commentator, "what would have been one of the biggest upsets in CFB history..." I don't think that would've really come close. Especially if Auburn plays like that all year long.

I guess I just want to keep the conversation alive in here. Thanks for replying.

Go Ole Miss!

Watched about 5 min of ^that game, and witnessed two completely blown calls. One out of bounds on Standford and a missed knee down on USC. In any case, USC.

Lol UT kicker is prolly in hiding. Welcome to our world of several years ago.

Ole Miss and LSU look to be our toughest opponents this year, along with Bama of course.

No way OSU was better than Michigan State or Ole Miss yesterday. It's mind blowing how fluff games hurt some teams even when they never show a weakness and other teams get a free pass after looking awful. Not only have MSU and Ole Miss not shown a weakness, they have also played someone worth a damn.

It doesn't matter. At least not yet. A heavy #1 that wins won't drop.

And the schedules also don't matter. Everyone was spitting the same nonsense last year and I doubt we all have forgotten how that played out.

OSU's problem right now is the offense and the lack of a clearly defined leader. Personally I want JT to be the man but when CJ is playing like he can, he's a NFL QB playing college ball. Being able to go that vertical with EE behind you is a powerful combo that they haven't even executed yet.
