Stay away from McDaniel's Acura in Columbia, SC

McDaniel's Acura in Columbia, given the chance, will rip you off in a heartbeat! They charge $135.00/hr labor. They stripped out aluminum threads and claim,"they did not do that, they spend loads of money to get their guys trained to not do stuff like that." They bottomed out a bolt in the aluminum engine block and it was broke off! They claimed it must have happened at the shop that did my complete timing belt service yesterday! I call BULLSHIT!! The technician that was repairing my car took pictures of the problems as he found them. They had been in the tear down process for less than 2 hours and the shop Manager called me and said I had bigger problems than a leaking tensioner! In December, just before Christmas last year, the Acura dealership installed a new tensioner that they themselves sourced. It started failing after 16,000 miles of use. The warranty was good for 12,000 miles, "but if your car was still under the new car warranty and they installed the same part and it failed again, they would cover it, no problem"! Because my car had about 245,000 miles on it, I am out of luck. It's too bad the Genuine HONDA/ACURA part failed at such a short life. The one that they removed and replaced, made it for almost 57,000 miles before it started losing pressure! It came in the timing belt kit I bought from ROCKAUTO.COM FOR $265.00!! That one looked IDENTICAL to the one that I took off. It had been installed by an Acura dealership in Charlotte, NC, at the 120,000 mile service for the previous owner! (I am owner #2). McDaniel's and Acura can both go take a flying leap. I will never take my car to them again, nor will I ever buy another Acura either! BTW.. The dealership also claimed I needed a new oil pump because mine was leaking. It was not leaking yesterday at the shop that only charges $85.00 /hr labor! go figure....
