ILX chops shops renderings and more. Thoughts ideas opinions.

Since there are at least two of us that enjoy photoshopping I figured we could use a thread to post our ILX chops instead of creating new threads.

A one stop shop to check out exhaust chops that Timmy has done, or random wheel shops I do, etc etc. As well, you guys can post ideas you want chopped and if we get a chance we can help out.

I will say though, google is a god and please dont ask for wheels you found on a TSX or be chopped on your ILX but in black on a white car... use your imagination when it comes to small tweaks and maybe we can help with the bigger ones.

Anyways, I'll post up one I just finished and post some old ones later.

Here I took an ILX and through on (tell me if Im wrong) Mugen Accord Wagon front bumper/grill, Mugen TSX skirts/visors. Acura OEM Jewel eye headlights, and lowered.
...I understand the kit can be a bit too much when that grill alone is too much for some. I went with the mugen bumper already in production and tried to get a look that would make Aimgain or JP proud.
Original...

Thanks and I agree. I really hope Mugen decides to do something with it... or any newer releases.
Maybe the future will hold a replica mugen bumper getting cut up and fitted to the ilx.

Thanks! Whens your ILX gonna look like this?!

I need to go back in and play with the bottom of the bumper to add the same point the front portion has.

-So many to share-

I don't like any of those wheels or the overall VIP style. So I guess that's fair.

Whoooooa negativity! Whatever floats your boat dude.

If you took the wheels I have chopped and imagine them as 18s or 17s Im sure theyd be more what you like. Only 2-3 are real VIP style wheels. The volks and works are more race inspired if anything.

What wheels do you want to see?

Please dont say Vossen Varrstoen or RonJon.

I have been thinking about trying to get that tail light look you chop.
If a company puts out aftermarket CLEAR tails I could get the clear plastic from those, put OEM insides behind them and use a red film to make the top half red and leave the bottom clear. Its on my list for the far future.

Maybe Euro themed is a better term than VIP since only the eurolines and vx110 are actually vip style wheels. Where as those and the blqs, vsxx, 0.01 are all Euro styled wheels while Id even consider the meisters and ccws to be more euro than the re30s, kais, or evos.

I prefer OEM wheels or really clean, reputable aftermarket wheels that don't look like they weigh 80lbs each and are found on low riders. I don't mean to be overly offensive, do what you want, but IMO the wheel style you like are ones I think are hideous. Just my opinion. The Volks and the Works are the only ones I think are most decent looking. 3sdm's are hideous.

The taillight deal.. I assume you mean the red and white two tone and not the re-shaping. Sounds good to me. If I owned an ILX, I'd call around and get a group buy going, but I don't. I'd even find someone who is willing to make a whole new trunk and rear bumper to make the edits I've made before come true, but I doubt anyone would be willing to do all that. .. Maybe one day when I do own a ILX and have some money I could find someone or myself to do it and I'll be the test dummy until they get the quality fit and finish right. Till then all I can do is hope that there's a big MMC coming or Gen 2 ILX's get similar treatment.

Yes, the red and white looks great. I didnt notice any reshaping in the lights if there was any. I dont like the cut out for the license plate is all.

Do a group buy for what?
Who would you go to to make a new trunk? Easier said than done I think.
Do you intend on buying an ILX in the future?

I dont have the means to make my own trunk or bumpers, space and time are very limited nor do I know a place I could just pay to make a custom trunk.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but I think you are being a bit drastic... maybe in order to be "fair" as you pointed out.
Of the 12 different wheels I posted..
1 is OEM
5 are Works
1 Volk
and 1 other (desmond evos) that are far more race worthy than a few of the Work wheels posted.
Thats 2/3rds that are either "OEM" or a "reputable aftermarket wheels that weigh" less than 25lbs each, most less than 20lbs... as you stated you actually like.

You may not like them; I give you that. But dont mistake the quality of the wheels I have chosen to chop. Majority are race proven, only 3 of which are worth less than $3,000 a set before tires and 1 of those are the OEM wheels.

You sure your don't see a different taillight shape? Look closer. They go from \ / to / \ on the insides. Gives the car a more aggressive look vs the squint eyed look.

Yeah I get the license plate area isn't you, I don't like it much more myself. Just didn't think the little 'square' cut out looked right with the different taillights.

I have no idea who I would got to make custom anything, everything I post here is easier said than done.

I wasn't saying the wheels you chopped weren't reputable after market wheels, just they aren't my style. I'd go for a different style under a reputable manufacturer. In other words, I was trying to make it clear that I'm not going to put on some kind of cheap, unknown manufacture wheel from a sketchy wheel shop, regardless of the style or how good it looks.

And of course I'll own an ILX one day. The chops I made make the ILX irresistible to me, but before I buy one for myself I'll have to be sure that I can make it to my liking. The ILX's sitting on dealer lots right now just don't draw me in like my current TSX does.
It doesn't looks like a Civic, but it has a Civic's presents which bothers me. Knowing it's a Civic doesn't help either. Nor does the power trains and build quality.

I see the difference in tail light shape now. I kinda like that. Just mainly not the point under the license plate.

If there more to that edit than tone?

I like the led strip but I'd want fogs as well.

A subtle kit would look good on there.

the euro theme doesnt work with the TSX.

love your chops, Jon...but the wheels dont really flow with the TSX' sexy lines.
you'll need to chop some "rice-ier" wheels on to make the lines of the TSX flow more naturally.

Thank you sir.

And I assume you mean ILX?
If so in my opinion I have to disagree. I love the euro look on this car. Some dont work but the 5 spoke and mesh designs I am liking a lot.

oops, yes, i meant the ILX.

While, I respect your opinion, could you do me a solid and chop up some sportier wheels on the ILX!?

and yes, the 5 spoke and mesh designs arent really that VIP, they're sportier and flow with the ILX' lines.

maybe try the Volk Te37's
or MB battles
or something along those lines.

I sure can. Sportier than the Evos?
Some te37s have already been done somewhere...

These are real I am pretty sure..

These are chopped

I like a more luxurious look for the ILX Id say.

I love Eric's chops of the ILX with the sporty rims.

yes, i can see the the ILX being more upscale and not sporty, can you try some rims that have class but not so vip like the eurolines or modulars.

I can I just need examples.

Id say the Volk RE30s that I did are what you're looking for. Even the Work VSXX and Meisters Id say follow that criteria. Maybe they are just a size too large.

Wow, those do look nice! I like that they're obviously custom, but could almost pass for HondAcura OEM thanks to the flares at the ends of the spokes.

Here is my idea of an exhaust mod :p

That rear end is stolen from a sexy ass Brabus, lower bumper, exhaust, diffuser, and wheels. Roof spoiler and vinyl black roof custom.
