5th Annual Great Falls Meet 1/13/13 VA/MD/NC/PA Come On Up!
hey everyone, it's your friendly neighborhood chapter leader checking in to remind all of you about the 4th annual great falls acurazine meet! 
scheduled date is 1/13/13, with a rain/snow reschedule date the following weekend 1/20/13.
we will meet at the park first at 11:00AM (9200 old dominion dr Mclean , Va 22102)...there will be a $5 charge to park there for each car. passengers ride free. there, we can take pictures, get some group shots, and enjoy the scenery.
afterwards, those who want to can head to a local restaurant/bar to watch some football and grab some food/beer/whatever.
as always, no obnoxious revving of your engine, no burnouts, no alcohol or drugs, everyone drive responsibly on the way there, just use common sense and we can all have a good time. it takes a lot of people to make this a successful meet, and only one person to ruin it. don't be that guy.
pets are welcome.
caravans can all be worked out in this thread, i know this meet attracts members from all different states. i hope to see a lot of old and new faces at this meet...be sure to clean your cars and bring your camera! let's make this one to remember!

dammit...middle of friggin january?! the group picture thing...yeah good luck with that. park police last year didn't really like us trying to get group pics. pending whether i want to freeze my ass off and the weather...i'm a maybe until the date gets closer.
not sure if it's worth it for you guys to be eating/playing at d&B since previous yrs you guys had a hard time getting the food and then ended up driving to the park at 3 or 4 pm. i'm just saying...

i'm going to contact d&b shortly, and give them a heads up for this date/time frame. we won't run into those unplanned issues and ONE waitress for 50 people.
also, i'll be contacting anybody in charge at the park location so that we have permission to be there and not get hassled.

^hey i'm up for whatever the masses want to do. we will all be meeting at d&b anyway, those that want to venture out for some better pictures can do so together afterwards. totally up to you all.

as long as we remain in the parking spaces at the park then no issues will be had at the park. it only got dicey when scott tried to "pose" the cars in the middle of the parking lot and then it was only a matter of time that they came and broke it all up. don't plan to go to tyson's mall either...mall cop won't like us there and they have eye in the sky. if you really want to get a photo group shoot....try going to one of the parking lot areas at one of the office buildings in tyson's. less likely to be hassled i would think, plus most of the office buidlings in that area would be empty since it's the weekend.

I say we skip the food and just meet at Great Falls. D&B is fun and all but it always takes WAY too long and by the time we leave there and get to Great Falls, it starts to get dark relatively soon. Plus I would rather be in a nice, quiet park with nice scenery than a parking deck with security driving around constantly.

I'm not saying my idea is the best, I would like to hear other opinions as well. I've been to this meet twice in the past and both times D&B was more frustrating with slow/poor service than it was enjoyable.

I'd still like to get some food, but maybe we could switch it up and grab food after pics and such at the park? That way we're not out there trying to take pics as the sun is going down. Also, don't forget that its $5 to get into the park (unless they are waiving the fee for that specific weekend).
And Tyler, if you need to crash some place, let me know. You can keep me nice and warm, Mitzi can take the couch :ghey:

I highly doubt Mitzi will want to come this year. She bitches every year about how cold it is and ends up sitting in the car wasting my gas 
Plus we can play Forza without distraction
Crashing the night before would help me out a lot. I would stay Sunday night instead but I'll have an 8am class the day after the meet

is it going to be a real acura meet or a honda accord meet? yea, all in the same family, but it was really sad last year when the accords outnumbered the acuras.

IIRC there was one RL, zeleya's, a couple of CLs, a dozen or so accords, maybe 7-8 3G TLs, 2 s2Ks, 1 4G TL, 1-2 TSXs, there were a few other 3g TL's that showed a lot later. it was a pretty small turn out considering it was a really nice day.
oh there was a bimmer and a nicely modded civic mixed in there too. i would have loved to have seen a bigger acura turnout.
i'll wait until the day gets closer to decide to venture out. if it's sunny and no snow and we get a lot of peeps...i'll most likely go...for now...i'll be a maybe.
