Wink Vehicle speed sensor or bad transmisssion solenoid/wiring?

I own a 3.2. Acura TL 1997 Yesterday I turn on the car and check engine light came on and also D4 light began to flash. Keep in mind no strange noises and car was not in gear when this occurred. Any ideas, has anyone dealt with this aswell? I drove the car and the timing seems to be retarded or the car is driving in limp mode. I really dont want to believe this is tranmission failure as there were no issues before. Any help will be much appreciated.

Checked the fault codes got P7105 which says short in gear position sensor circuit I'm leaning towards the shift solenoids think I'm on the right track. Simple demonstration of switching from 1st gear to 2nd gear which recreates the P7105 error code. Can anyone chime in with some knowledge on shift solenoids please! I found the Acura part number #28200-py4-004 is interchangeable with 91-95 Legend models so thinking junk yard this weekend.

well the shift solenoids are the ones inside the trans right on top of the secondary valve body, mine IS the the shift sol and gives code p0758. and it shifts like total S***, but still doesnt put me in limp. #18 on here shows the shift solenoids http://parts.sonsacura.com/showAssembly.aspx?ukey_assembly=269428

so in my opinion i dont think this is your issue, but im no professional, but have been looking at this real hard since mine is actually FUBAR. i sure hope this helps.

Well I didnt mention this earlier but I ruptured two heater hoses right above those solenoids you mentioned in picture #18 diagram which leads me to believe there might have been a short concerning moisture hopefully... but regardless I want to keep playing with the electrical and see what I come up with. Hey you think those solenoids on top of the secondary body those should be pretty simple to remove? If you look at the rear of the engine near the firewall you can see them clearly and there is an opening right under the abs system.

no those are inside the trans and you will have to pull the pan and filter then the secondary valve body can come out through the bottom. the ones on top that you can see (if im thinking right) are the lock up solenoids (and im not 100% sure on what they do) i dont think will help your/my issue. that being said i knw the guys in the 2nd gen TL clean the screens on their lock up solenoids to get a few extra miles from their problematic transmissions. wont hurt to change them of course, just dont be shocked if nothing changes as the ones you need are inside the trans.

Did more research my issue is the position sensor assy. part#28900-P5H-003 also referred to as the transmission range senor and neutral safety switch the problem lies in the switch itself or the harness to the PCM. $200 for it new. Glad I finally figured this out. Get back with you guys on the prodecure for checking continuity and such....
