Is this normal or is something wrong with sideview mirror?

Ok. So I got my TL about 4 days ago. it's a Certified 2009 TL with Tech. 26K miles.

The passenger sideview mirror housing is loose. it just wiggles all over while my driver side is tight and stiff. I'm hoping the dealer will take care of this as it is certified AND still under manufacture warranty.

Also, I can adjust the mirror in all directions. But when I press the memory recall position button, it doesn't bring the passenger side mirror to it's correct programmed place like the driver side does. It only moves it up and down..... Weird. I can move it with the 4-way D-pad and then save the setting but when i mess it up and press the memory button, it will move up but not left and right, i have to manually do it.

Normal?

My guess is that something is wrong.

I personally do not own a TL but even my 2001 CL-S recalls the passenger side mirrors on the memory button. The only thing I can think of would be to try centering the mirror selection switch and see if that does anything for the recalling of mirror settings. On my CL, if I have either mirror selected, it will not angle the mirror down when in reverse.

Here's the wobbly issue. Sorry about the flashlight haha.

DSPR_02 - Pressing recall button only moves it up and down. Say I move the mirror all the way to the right and down. Pressing recall will move it up but not left.

They have most likley changed the mirror toggle on the newer model Acura's. The only reason I can think of them doing that is that it is a biatch and a half when trying to back up from a parking spot at the mall and the mirror shows the pavement and not whats behind. On the 2nd Gen CL (and 2nd Gen TL's I think) only the passenger side mirror will angle down when in reverse.

As for your mirror not adjusting in/out, your best bets would be either intense googleing sessions or taking it to Acura and yelling till they fix it.

When the switch is in the middle nothing is suppose to happen, that is a feature. The mirror only goes down when its either on the left or the right side toggle.

The movement of the right mirror seems unnatural, it seems to jerk up with every movement, I think the mirror actuator motor is broken. The mirror housing on the right side is broken for sure.

Did you call your Acura dealership yet? I would call them asap and tell them about the problem before they say you broke it yourself. Hope you get it fixed soon.

The side mirrors do not tilt when the reverse gear is selected and the selector switch is in the middle position. This is by design.

The right side mirror housing looks to be loose from the video and I think it's a warranty issue.

The issue with the right mirror not tilting in when memory is recalled is odd. I'll have to check on mine for this. Did you try setting the right side mirror to tilt in and then "save" the position by pressing the memory position 1 again?

Yes. I did do the setting to where I moved the mirror right. If done correctly, It's supposed to turn in, and then up. All it does is move up, I have to manually turn it in.

Ya no way should that mirror be that loose. When you drive the car and hit a bump,it's going to bounce up & down on you. Have the dealer look at it as well.

Someone has pushed the mirror up or down while washing it or whatever and stripped the gear / actuator that holds it in place. (I suspect). Dealer will replace.

Well I just bought the car last tuesday and have been babying it. That's why I washed it myself yesterday and when I went to dry the mirror, I noticed the housing was all wobbly.

Hopefully dealer will take care of it.

Thanks for the info everyone on the reverse mirror issue. Seems to be a feature :P so I won't ask the dealer about that.

Something's broken inside. The side mirror should not wobble at all.

Its a reputable dealer and owned by a large corp (penske). I'm hoping their service dept comes through.

When I looked over the car, I was more focused on identifying accident damage and body shape. Checking for paint or over spray or tempered vin stickers that see placed all over the car parts. it was fine. And since it was Acura certified, I'd have expected then to do a through inspection.

So far a speaker is blown noticed on low volume. the mirror issue listed in this thread and I'm missing the wheel lug removal bar from the compartment in the trunk.

Will talk to them about it tomorrow. What exactly did they certify?

Yep, one of the plastic tabs that holds the mirror in place has broken. Probably took a hard hit at some point. easy fix=new mirror.

Well the dealer is very supportive and is taking care of everything. replacing the mirror and speaker and gave me a replacement lug-nut wrench that was missing.

Got a 2012 TSX to driver around while that's getting done. I'm glad I went with the TL. The ride just seems much more comfortable in the TL. TSX is definitely geared towards the younger crowd.
