Turbo J32 S2000 Build Thread

Well I guess its time to start a build thread since its finally starting to look like something. I purchased my 2002 S2000 in October 2009 and bought the J32a2 two weeks later. Both the car and motor were bought just for this swap. My main thought behind the idea was to have a s2000 with some much needed torque. FYI, the idea was before the HFP j37 Blue CR(the released pic anyway)! I will try to keep the updates not too far apart, but I only work on the car about once a month.

Construction of mounts

Motor and tranny together with temp. wooden adapter plate

with mounts tack together and ready to install in mock-up car

Manifold construction

Rev4 template of adapter with starter location

Cutting a knock out in the oil pan for the starter and checking fitment

Material for the final adapter plate

Adapter Plate, spacer, and flywheel

Starter shim and modded pan

Stepped dowel pins (thanks to turtle @ EVO IND) are an adapter plate's best friend

...going back in to continue the fab stuff

Meanwhile, the reason my S2000 was so cheap was it was wrecked at one time. Most of the damage was cosmetic, but needed to be fixed.

Back to project. Just a few pics of fit and clearance

Your craftsmanship skills are amazing! The J series looks so at home sitting sideways . So far you did more work once a month then some people do in 6-12 months. Where are you located?

When I finish tech school in the US Air Force, I too also would like to tackle some kinda of custom built project.. I may have to fly you out!

I don't have a clue on how my man hours are in it, but I'm probably over 100 as it sits. Cost is surprisingly low imo. $2000 for motor, ecu, and wire harness. Approximately $3000 in the clutch, flywheel, adapter, flanges, material, waterjet, injectors, and misc hardware and tools. Then I sold the stock f20c for $2500.

Did you machine the plate yourself? If you did do you intend one producing it?

The exterior and interior of the plate is cut with a waterjet and the holes are machined by me. I can make more if people are interested, but I doubt there's a market to produce a bunch of them.

Holy mother fk...I would love to drive this car.

And only into the project, net $2500 so far...incredible. In to see how she ends up. My favorite has been that black S with the exhaust shooting out of the fender. Not the best looking but so fast. This one will probably be just as quick.

With the J32A2 ECU?? I think I'm more excited to see how that works.

Either way this is a build I've been waiting years to see! Subscribed for sure!

J32A2 ECU??? Where did you get that? My engine management is a Haltech Platinum sport 2000. There is no J32 ecu.
