My car doesn't beep after i hit the lock button anymore...
I had to take my TL in for some body work (i had a huge gash in the driver door), and also had the bumpers repainted. I know they had to take the entire door off, and now, when i lock it w/ the remote, it doesn't beep after i hit the button twice. I'll take it in to the dealer b/c it's under warranty, but has this happened to anyone before?

It's weird b/c I just removed by front bumper this afternoon and after locking the garage up, I hit the lock button twice and the horn didn't beep (1999 equivalent to your beep)

for the bumper removal (love my 99) chech to make sure the hood latch is clear from any debri, or maby something blocking the hood from closing all the way (maby there is a sensor). But if the hood is not fully closed the car won't beep.
With reagrd to the door, there must be a) a sensor that was disconected when the door was taken off and not connected when the door was put back on. or b) the door is not hung properly so the sensor is not triggered.
obviously the car icon on the dash is not lit up, right? (to show the door is open)
I don't know if it would be a connection in the latch mechanism or to an electrical connection, I would guess the later.

The TL's alarm system works like this (99-01ers neway)
Each door, the trunk, and the hood, all have the electronic switch that says "I'm open" or "I'm closed". For the doors, its the same switch that turns the interior lights on, so if it was the door switch, your lights would stay on.
So that narrows it down to trunk and hood.
Probably not trunk, that hasent been touched. BUT best way to tell for the trunk is to close it, then open the ski passthrough and look to see if the trunk light is still on. Again, same switch.
Then theres the hood.
The 3 or 4 bolts that connect the latch to the core/radiator support have to be removed to inspect the electronic switch and harness for the hood latch. If for some reason someone removed the latch at the body shop, its possible the harness came disconnected at the latch.
GET THIS FIXED, FAST.
The TL's alarm system WILL NOT ARM, it will ONLY LOCK THE DOORS!!!
The lights will not blink when you lock, and the horn will not sound if "a door is open", resulting in the alarm not arming. so get it fixed dude, especially if you have a lot of I.C.E. in your ride!!!
