Cruise Control easy to fix? Cost?

I am planning on doing an 8-hour drive next month... and I currently do not have cruise control - hasn't been working for about 6 months.

Does anyone know if fixing the Cruise Control is a "simply/easy" process... or do I need to bring it into an Acura dealership? If I need to get someone professional to fix it, about how much would it cost?

Thanks,

Jeff

well it all depends on what the problem is, diagnosing the problem will probably be the hardest step. The hardware that is required to run cruise control is straightforward, the main part would be the actuator with the throttle cable attaching to the throttle body. If you have some electrical background, you can test the circuit from that actuator, if the actuator is not at fault, then it could be anywhere between the wiring leading to your cruise control switch and the switch itself. If you have some electrical background, let me know and ill post some diagrams from my service manual for a 2.5TL, and you can fiddle around with it if you have the time.
