<p>In <strong><a href="https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=164807"target="2004">2004</a></strong> and again in <strong><a href="https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?p=4544420"target="2005">2005</a></strong> AcuraZine raised over $3000 in a holiday charity competition. We changed things up a bit this year, but the results have far exceeded our goal of matching previous years!!</p>

<p><strong>Why change?</strong>

Last year the logistics and practicality of buying <i>thousands</i> of toys ourselves proved difficult. We donated all proceeds directly to Toys for Tots and received an underwhelming response. Toys for Tots is a massive organization, this year we wanted our hard work and contributions to have more of an impact.</p>

<p><strong>Child's Play, who?</strong>

Established by gamers in 2003, Child's Play is becoming the childrens charity of choice across the internet. Unlike traditional charities, Child's Play passes 100% of their proceeds to participating childrens hospitals, keeping nothing for "administrative use".</p>

<p><strong>Why Child's Play?</strong>

Instead of blindly collecting generic toys, Child's Play & their participating hospitals take the time to create individual wishlists for kids who will be stuck in sick beds this holiday season. Every cent we donate to Child's Play this year will be used to purchase a toy that a sick child <i>wants</i>. Every dollar we raise will be put to good use <i>this</i> year.<br>

What's more, unlike with Toys for Tots, our donations will be spread to participating hospitals throughout the country. This means a child & a hospital near you <i>will</i> benefit from <i>your</i> donation. Your donation could very well end up as a toy in the hands of a child you know.</p>

<p>Through <strong><u><a href="http://www.childsplaycharity.org" target="Child's Play">Child's Play</u></a>, we're making a <i>real</i> impact</strong>!</p>

As you can see, this year we went far above and beyond previous years totals! Our members, moderators & vendors were able to raise <strong>$5000</strong> for <strong><u><a href="http://www.childsplaycharity.org" target="Child's Play">Child's Play</strong></u></a>. We will make a difference to so many children who are sick and in the hospital over this holiday season!!

Did the total end up being more than $5,000? I know people were generously hoping to donate at the last minute.
