Thanks a whole bunch to bysin! Keep hackin buddy. Thanks for open sourcing your code!!

I had a PCMCIA card extension with a 1GB micro drive,

I copied all the required BIN files, and chose "LOAD FROM CARD" instead of CD/DVD, and after a 5-10 secs. it said ATA Card read error. So unless it is looking for a specific folder .. i dont know what could be wrong .. May be Bysin can look into this. Will save him all this burning media...

I know the drive works for the car, I tested it by, holding the MENU button for 10 extra seconds from the main diagnostic menu, it brought me to developer menu, and I went to Logs, and clicked Save logs to PCMCICA. and it successfully created .txt files of logs dumps from the Navi System.

Why is everyone not using CD-RWs? I used an old Verbatim 12x CD-RW and it read fine for the background swap.

That's a pretty cool device. Hope you get it to work.

Are you sure it is a DVD drive and not just as CDROM? The disk is a DVD.

This happens to me as well. I don't get 9 BIN files of ~104 mb, but get 9 of ~230 mb.

But you say the startup image worked? might as well do that.

Bam...

Original go at it had a working image, no words for the nag (go only) but had some initial lag and "after" screen lag...

I used a modified image from MrBrett (the man will post pics later)...

I photoshopped it the way I wanted, changed to indexed colors of 173 (as explained earlier in this thread) and ALSO cropped 2 pixels from width and one from height (478x233x8bit color bmp @ 109k or 112,588 bytes)

I reloaded as expected and there is NO lag before image load. NONE. Shoot, it comes on faster than I can turn the key practically! I actually added back in the words for the nag screen. I figure SOMETHING on the screen is better than that blackness before the "Go" buttons comes up.

Are those "nag words" a BMP as well? Or are they text? Either way, we could mod those as well??? Another BMP, or even change the words to "Where to?" or something like that? Thoughts???

any help

I don't have a DVD drive on my computer, (I know, I'm living in the stone age). I would be willing to pay $25.00 to anyone who would take the time and make one for me with my own selection of start-up picture.
Anyone thought of making these and selling them on e-bay, bet you could make some good money.
Anyone willing to hook a brother up please e-mail me, stretchb69@hotmail.com
Thanks, Stretch

Stretch...

Most any of us will hook a brutha up, but I am not 100% sure that the BIN files from your DVD will be the same as ours... That is where you have to start. Such that someone would need your DVD to start the process... In the meantime I'm sure we can get you a BMP rolling along... Take that $25 and go to TigerDirect and put it towards a DVD drive... Remember, you don't need a DVD burner man, just a reader!!! You can burn just a CD with you modified BIN file(s)!

Make sense chap???

NSX.ttf

You should find it somewhere and you'll be good to go!!!

When you say you have 2 dumpnavi programs, I think you're downloading too much.
Just download the GUI version.

Then follow the ReadMe instructions.

The problem is the newer DVD nav systems run win CE on a known processor, the old ones are completely unknown (at least last time I looked into it). If we could get some specs on the older system that'd help a lot. I wanted to try throwing the files into IDA Pro, but I don't have a copy of it and don't know anyone who does (that might at least help find the processor - I believe it's some sort of ARM cpu but that was just a guess).

So does that mean it may be technically possible to run, say a Windows CE media player to play MP3 or even video files?

heres a link to a site with tons of navi pics posted, a lot from Mr. Brett. I had posted the pic by Jtow but apparently some one here has an incredable dislike for women. Anyway, one pic here is not appropriate for those who have never seen a tattoo. Enjoy: http://linuxkiddies.com/bysin/navi/ That is the same as Bysins page**

Keep your tone down, please. We try to get rid of any possible NWS pics/images out of our sites. So... When you see something making you excited out there, there is no need to re-post or forward here, especially that type of pic, thank you.

Btw, one post will be enough. Don't need to post the same comment twice.

Sorry...should have finished everything before I sent the last post. I hit the modify tab and got an error message of "Nag modification isnt supported on your car." I thought I read somewhere that the nag screen COULD be altered with the TL, can anyone advise?

From what I gather, the text on the nag screen on the TL can be ALTERED, but you still have to hit the OK button. Is that correct? Or can we actually remove the OK button?

Ok...I figured out everything...or so I thought. I loaded the disk, and the screen said something about downloading data. Then, right at the end, it says something about check CD. I meant to write the exact error code but forgot.

Any ideas?

I don't think bysin was able to bypass the OK/GO button.

Rob, after loading your DVD, the error code is normal. Now take out your DVD and replace it with the Acura DVD. You're all set. Your new image should appear and the nag text is removed. The rest of the navi functions should perform as normal.

I did that, but there was no working link on any of the pages. All I found was nsx26.ttf, which looks kinda crappy....i.e. the bottom of some of the letters is too thick.

Any chance you can post the font?
