brakes SQUEALING

Hey, I am new to the forum...

bought a 05 TL 60k on it. Dealer told me brakes were almost new 6k on them and tires as well.

I am noticing squealing when I slowly apply breaks...and sometimes when I am driving very slowly ex parallel parking it squeals much harder....

I read some posts on squealing, but I need some expert advice on what could be the cause/solution to to my issue especially when the breaks only have 6k on them.

I am by no means a mechanic guru, but maybe they didnt change the pads when they replaced the disks?!

First, welcome! Tons of good info and a great community here.

In my experience, a couple things could be happening. First, there could be a harder than normal spot in either a rotor or the pad. If the sound always comes from the same wheel(s), and is worse when wet, then that's likely the problem. The other thing it could be is build up of brake dust, but this is more common in drum brakes, not disc like you have.

If the brakes only have 6,000 miles on them, they should still be under warranty - any reputable shop will provide a minimum 12 month 12,000 mile warranty. Take it to the shop and have them get their repair right. If the pad is bad, they should replace it, if it's the original rotor, it's on you.

Service Bullitin

Acura has a service bullitin (recall) out for this. I got my brakes fixed last year. You can find it with the search tab.

My mistake, the dealer I bought the car from was NOT an acura dealer....it was a mazda dealer remember the car was used...Up here we use km not miles, so basically 6000km should still be on warranty.

This looks like they didnt install stock acura disks/pads....I will try to convince them to replace the breaks with original ones..

Seems to me when you install something other than originals you are looking for trouble...

thx for the replies
