Mentally Challenaged Check
I'm currently dealing with the Service Dept. in clearing some of the CPO 150 pt inspection issues that evidently they only had the abbreviated version of.
My issue:
With a passenger in the front seat, no alert is given if thier seat belt is not fastened. My driver's side works just fine.
The tech told me today that on my particular model (2005 RL) that is how is functions???? I had already read the owners manual which told me a different story, not to mention I just received my 05 RL Service Manual which has DTC for just such a failure. Can someone please confirm that warm air I feel from behind is smoke. Thanks

Out of curiosity, since I couldn't remember off the top of my head, I took an 05 out at work to test it. I drove, with my seatbelt buckled, and had the passenger (another tech), sit in the front and not buckle his.
At no point during our five minute test drive did the car yell at me for him not having his belt buckled. If at any point I unbuckled mine, the red warning light on the dash illuminted, and shortly thereafter the good ol female voice came on and told me to buckle up.
But again, at no point does it have any indication for a passenger sitting in the front seat and not being buckled in. As for the DTC, were you looking at one that pertained to the passenger side airbag off/OPDS/etc systems?
It does make me wonder, as my 07 TL-S will yell at not only me, but my passenger as well, if we aren't buckled (though I buckle up 100% of the time, so).
Just wanted to confirm with you that this is indeed how the system works. Worst case, ask the tech to take you out in another RL. I do that from time to time with customers to shown them that this is how a particular system was designed, supposed to operate, etc.
