Thanks!! GL with your battery...

Tonto340 - You shouldn't have any issues with the cover as long as you stick to the same size, I think. Just noticed, the Acura replacement battery does not have the battery condition indicator on it (the one that still showed green when my battery wasn't good enough to start my car)

Btw, what are the benefits/drawbacks of upsizing the battery? Probably if you have more AF electronics that the battery needs to support??

I bought a Costco battery a couple years ago and had to snip a vertical support pole on the bottom side of the cover only. This pole supports the middle of the cover by standing on the top of the battery. I think there are 2 of these poles under the cover. If your battery is 1" higher, you will need to snip the poles 1". The cover fits fine over the Costco battery.

Same thing happened to me. While getting the NC annual state inspection 2 years ago the dealer replaced the battery free under the warranty. They told me it tested low even tho I never had any problems. Went for the annual state inspection 2 days ago-the replacement battery tested excellent.

So I bought my 06 TL Acura Certified used 2 years ago. I got my bettery tested twice recently and both came out ok.

How can you tell if your battery is original or not? Is there a sticker or something? I don't know if the dealer replaced the battery or not before my purchase.

For those of you that had battery failure, did your car die while you were driving or did it just not start to begin with?

interior lights can flicker, hard start....or just doesn't start. sometimes the car lighting can go a little crazy almost like there is a short or a fuse needs to be fixed.

check for other battery threads and you'll read about others with weird stuff or absolutely nothing...it just dies.

I think you bought the wrong battery... I also bought Costco batteries, and the cover fit just fine without having to make any modifications whatsoever.

'09 TL Battery Failure?

Had my first fail to turn over after only 28 months and 24K miles in mild So Calif. Based on previous comments, if the dealer doesn't find anything with the battery, I guess that I'm in for more jumps in the near future??? Although not in this case, I have also experienced the slow turnover after only 5 - 10 minutes of accessories usage to load a CD to the HD.

it's known to happen. running the accessories will render your battery useless if you run them for more than 15 min or so. i've read of bad batteries after 7 mos. bottomline....OEM batteries are not good. you're still under warranty, take advantage of it and get a new one for FREE and hope you get more life out of it (3-4-5 yrs). if the car is turning over slower, or the lights on the dash or interior are flickering or the electronics are seemingly possessed by something...it's your battery going bye bye. i'd much rather have peace of mind than worry if my car is going to start the next time i get in it.

i'm on battery #3 for my TL (original owner). hoping the aftermakert battery i have now will last a bit longer than the first two OEM batteries.

Just had a situation where I returned home last night 7pm, went to drive car 9:30AM next day (14.5 hrs) and car would not start. Car would not crank over and all the dash lights were blinking, also saw time on clock reset to 1:00.

I could see the battery draining if I hadn't driven the car over several days, but this seemed like a rather quick discharge.

Is your HFL working (handsfree link)? You'll probably need to jump or charge the battery to determine. If the HFL isn't working correctly it could be defective which can drain the battery. But 14.5 hours is pretty quick even if the HFL is goofed. Chances are your battery might be a goner. I'd try fully charging it. With a charger - don't rely on the alternator to do it. Then see if the problem repeats itself. If so, the battery is probably a goner.

Yes, HFL works. I experienced it draining the battery a year or two ago, but this was over a period of 4 days of not running the car.

I'm thinking the battery is shot. I know the there is a 100 month warranty on the battery, but dealership charges $100 bucks for it, pro-rated I will only get around $35 bucks toward a new one.
