What color is yours? I ask because by 70,000 miles my front end looked grey from the millions of chips and my car is black. Once I stopped the freeway miles around 70-80k I had the entire front end repainted and windshield replaced. They say black is more prone to chipping because it's thinner. I would have been happy to have just a few chips at 150k.

Also, I forgot since we're talking about problems, mine might have a rear main leak. I've never changed the PCV so I'm going to do that very soon but if it's not bad and I doubt it is, I might have my first semi expensive problem which I doubt I'll fix until the trans goes out.

When did this thread turn into post the lowest mileage? I'm pretty sure we all expect a 30,000 mile TL to be relatively problem free.

Bought mine with 110k, just rolled over to 130k the other day.

Luckily no real issues except maintenance gone wrong (my fault).

The only thing I can think of is my rear door lock actuator went out for some reason. The door was stuck closed, with the door panel on and would not open from inside or outside. It cost me 200 bucks at the dealer (usually a $5-$600 job apparently) for my buddy to fix it on the side including parts.

Other than that, no real issues to report besides stupid things I've done to it lol.

IHC: how does PCV affect rear main? Maybe I should change mine...

It helps to maintain a slight crankcase vacuum. At the other end is the fresh air tube that goes into the inlet tube from the main air filter so there's very little chance of the PCV causing problems but it's so cheap to replace. Still though, some seals will leak if the crank case is not on a slight vacuum.

2004 with 124K. I bought her with 44K. Only repairs completed were not needed at the time and preventative only. I did the timing belt, water pump, tensioner, serpentine and flush the radiator. My cheap ass friend has the exact same TL with 144K and he hasnt done anything except change the oil!

I might get new shocks to get that tight feel from when she was a puppy, but thats it. My acura is the shiznet. Everyone that sees it for the first time is shocked what year it is.

This thread makes me realize I have forgotten to do the timing belt. Everything is sitting in my closet, totally forgot about it. Still haven't gotten the MID warning to do it yet but the first 70k were put on in about 2.5 years, lots of low rpm freeway driving so I'm sure it's got a few more miles in it. 109k is making me a little nervous though.

^^^ Matt, in the first 130K miles I had 100K highway miles....and my timing belt service came in at ~127K....I performed the service at 135K miles....

the old belt was perfect, no tears/rips/signs of wear on the belt....but the tensioner was messy....

Just bought my 04 ABP TL on Friday. 125K miles, one owner, maintenance like clockwork. Can't tell how satisfied and happy I am - car runs super, nothing wrong everything in great shape. I'm very gentle with it though, light throttle always!

Hoping to run it till at least 200K, although I should have another TL by then .

67k here. i put only 3800 miles on it last year. It's my only car. And never had a check engine light since I have owned it (4 yrs)

bluetooth is out though..
and I might need to check front ball joints? (or whatever it is) i hear some faint noises over bumpy roads(its not the shocks I hope, those are only 2yrs old). But it could be just a lightweight front end. I am used to Camaro's with V8's and big tires. Everything like that absorbs more noise.

It's GOT to be the lightweight front end on your FWD car with a 70/30 weight distribution and the same curb weight as your mullet mobile. Wow.

wow you guys got some low mileage TL. Mine is an 04 sitting at 116,xxx and i plan on driving it till the wheel falls off. I think with preventative maintenance i'll probably go before the car does.

07 Type-S, bought it almost exactly a year ago with 58k. Now approaching 79k. I did some driving last year. The fun of being from Northern California and going to college in Southern California. Luckily I landed a steady job in Southern Cali, so a lot less driving in the next year I'd imagine. Running well. Right after my 12k mile warranty expired my driver's window stopped working, had to pay for that out of pocket. Aside from that, no issues.

Mileage

185,000 won't be long before my next timing belt.

The car disappointed me because at 173,000 one of the rear barkes started to drag. Just kidding of course with the disappointment

fu!

I'm talking about the components of the suspension not the entire car. Besides, these TL's with a big ass, and a big back seat and a 6 banger on the front, I dont care what numbers you give me, I know this TL is more proportionally balanced (overall) than say a Camaro. And those camaros never made rattling noises over bumps.. haha fuck head. Stick your mullet up your ass

Maybe you should think for yourself .. ihc is anxaggerating and decieving and an insulter like his father. The tl is closer to 60/40 than 70/30. And that's considerably more balanced.

The car is 7 years old, so even though it only has 33k miles it must have been a lot of short commutes. Getting 7 years out of brakes sounds pretty good to me.

Wow that's awesome. Any major issues or repairs that you had to have done? Also, at what mileage did you have your timing belt, water pump, plugs etc. done at?

So I haven't really had any major repairs. This car has been very little trouble to me. Nearly everything has been scheduled maintenance and my car has never been towed for any reason. If you exclude typical stuff like tires, brakes and fluid changes; here is a list of all the repairs or major maintenance I've done:
  • 37k Bluetooth mic making crackling noise for listener on other end. Fixed under warranty. Cost: $0.00
  • 67k Battery died when car was 3 years old. I consider this too soon. Cost: $69.70
  • 107k Timing belt, water pump and spark plugs. Cost: ~$900
  • 121k Replaced 3rd & 4th gear transmission sensors to cure transmission shudder. Cost: $129.69
  • 123k Battery died again only 2 1/2 years after previous replacement. Again, I consider this too soon. Cost: $53.02 (1/2 year of proration applied from the 3 yr battery warranty.)
  • 132k Timing Belt Tensioner was causing a loud noise upon startup in the cold. Replaced tensioner. Cost: $250.87
  • 151k Replaced suspension with A-spec suspension since my front suspension was pretty much shot. Rears were probably fine, but used the opportunity to go ahead an upgrade. Cost: ~ $800

Another thing to point out is that aside from changing air filters and light bulbs, I have not done any of the work myself. I always took it to the dealer or some other shop so labor charges are built in to the figures above.

I would add to jhumbo's repair history that the extra labor cost of timing belt tensioner (132K) would have been negligible at the later repair date if it was properly inspected/replaced at the timing belt/water pump repair date (107K).
