What's the mileage on your 3G? Still going strong?
i was being a little curious about my 2004 acura TL, i bought the car regardless of 144k miles she had. car is absolute beauty and extra clean.
I know 3g TL has a strong engine while accords go 200k easily, they should go a little more.
my question to all prestige 3g owners is, how many miles you have on your TL, what year and how good she runs now?
If there is no bad luck failure in car, on what kind of maintenance should i keep my eye on, in order to get her to 200k+ ?
i drive about 10-12k a year lol .. so ill get 210k in about 2017
I have 106k on my car, 5k being mine and it runs like new. Still has tons of spunk when I want to have fun and rides smooth, quiet, and comfortable when I want to relax. Recently I've discovered driving in the manual sport mode while I'm just driving and I swear its the best driving experienced I've had in my 19 years of life.

I will be monitoring this thread a lot. I purchased a 2008 TL with 72K miles in mid May. I am up to 80K now. I should be at about 100K by the end of the year. I drive about 45K a year.

Problems are arising I fear, as rust is starting to surface and bubble, my car making a tiny clicking sound when I brake, suspension bottoming out, etc.
120k kms on my 04 and when I took it in to the mechanic for a trans flush a few days ago the mechanic was like "damn the engine sounds brand new!"
A transmission fluid flush every 2 years, or even yearly if you drive a lot.
a transmission flush .. sounds scary. since its an old car, someone old told me, transmission flush can sometimes damage the transmission (so dont do it lol)
also i am talking about 140k Miles 120k km are like 75k miles, which ofcourse is good as new lol

I commute about 70-75 miles each way to work. And I also have a lot of regional customers that I visit with. I traded in my I35 with 188K for the TL. About 80K of that was in the last 2 years.

lots of highway miles are not that harmful, if you compare it with city miles. correct me if im wrong?

I don't see how it could damage anything on an old car, I think whoever told you that was either confused or he meant something else.
My 07' TLS has 70,000 miles & my 98' Accord V6 has 255,000 miles & the valve cover has only been off to adjust valves. Mechanic said they looked new. The accord burns NO OIL. Honda makes great engines but changing the oil/filter is critical.
'04 that just passed 102K. Bought the car with 95K about a month ago.... so ya 7k miles in a month lol. I travel anywhere from 1000 to 2000 miles a week depending where my appointments are (mostly highway miles). 105K maintenance coming up which is a big deal if you want to get to that 200k mile mark. Every 5-6k miles I do an oil change and about every 50k miles I plan on doing transmission flushes. Still drives great, smooth ride and love every minute of purchasing it. Just my

Highway miles are easier on a car.
Below are the ones I do on my own.
Oil changes - Usually Mobil One Synthetic with a Mobil One or Bosch Filter
Tire Rotations
Air Filter - K&N Drop In Cleaned every 4 oil changes or when needed.
Cabin Air Filter - Replaced when needed
Spark Plugs - Every 75K - 90K miles. I stick with OEM.
Brakes when needed. Haven't had to yet.
I will probably do the transmission fluid on my own at about 95K to 100K
Most everything else I will have done at the dealership if I can afford it.
There are a lot of thought on this. Basically the detergents in the fluid used to flush the transmission is murder on the internal parts. The same is true for an engine flush. There is more damage from the detergents and flushing process than the crud in the transmission.
I always just drain and refill what you remove. With the TL you will drain roughly 3 qts.
Bought my 05 TL brand new with 2 miles on it. It has 108k miles on it now. Only thing outside of warranty (excluding normal wear & tear and maintenance) that I had to pay for was a starter. Still going strong. Hoping to get another 100k miles out of it (transmission really- not too worried about the engine).

That would be pretty hard. The car has safeguards in place to keep you from messing up. You cant downshift too early as the car will stop you, if you wait too long to shift the car will shift for you, and if your trying to shift too early I dont think the car will let you.
I notice that in sport mode the car has more pickup when I'm accelerating, and (this is said in the owners manual as well) when you start from a dead stop in second gear it is a very smooth start (and helps with traction).
I think it would be pretty hard to mess it up but it would be easier to learn to do it if you engage it while driving around 30+ then go onto the highway then when you feel more comfortable try it from a dead stop.

I was unaware that's what flushing meant, I thought flushing was when you let all the old fluid out then top it up with new fluid. Good to know...
139,899 on my 2005. I've replaced CV boots, brakes, and battery. Everything is peachy. I've had several cars, but the last one was a 1993 Range Rover so I went for reliability this time. This car absolutely rocks in that regard.
Coming up on the 150k mark. The engine and trans drive like new. Little problems with things like suspension, interior rattles, burnt out interior bulbs have crept up over the past 20k miles. None of it is a big deal, but it reminds me that the car is starting to get some age, although I notice many many people on this forum have the same issues on much younger and lower mileage TLs, so I guess I'm lucky I went so long with pretty much zero issues.
i bought the car at 103k put on around 2k in one month and shortly after buying a CEL came on. checked it at a shop said it was for the knock sensor and/or possible wiring issue from it.
I bought the car in great condition and did not expect that CEL to come on... previous owner could have cleared it and popped up during my ownership, but can not be said for certain as it was in excellent condition when i bought it. Owner did not seem to be a neglecting person as it was as mint as possible minus the inevitable minor dings and scratches.
any feedback on this cel will be helpful
glove box, rear deck, and passenger door rattles... will probably fix these when getting tint this week
other than that, the car seems to run perfectly fine so cross my that it will go for another 100k
Driving a 2007 with 19k. Purchased last year with 7k.
I like hearing the stories, as I tend to keep my cars for a significant amount of time. Last car was a 2000 accord V6 with 150k. Never changed the timing belt and Tranny was starting to slip.
I wasnt a huge part of any forums back then, but I wonder if the slipping I was having could have been treated with some pressure switches and type f fluid. Either way I'm 3G TL for quite some time!
Bought the car at 94k, its been about half a year and now I'm at 102k. I pretty much had the car serviced for the 105k tuneup earlier, like at 100k. Car runs amazing but only problem was that the starter went out last week, got new starter but right after that the battery died. Luckily both times I was just around my area and wasnt on a long trip. OH well, still love it everytime i drive it though
ok, i think i might be in the low mileage club (vs high mileage club)...05 w/55K mi. regular maintenance, both CVs went bad at 40Kmi (replaced)...i think that's it for major stuff.
however, with a honda engine...anybody hear of million mile joe? he's got a 1990 honda accord. he's about to hit the 1,000,000 mi mark in a month or two (on the original engine i believe-he's about 14Kmi short right now). he lives in maine...his car on the outside looks fantastic considering he lives in maine. he kept all of his maintenance records written in notebooks (by year). so, i'd say that with regular maintenance and a little love...the TL could do the same thing.
Forgot to mention, my accord is on it's 3rd transmission. The first one went at 120,000 miles but honda paid for it I just paid the labor. Then the 2nd one went at 245,000 miles. The engines in acuras/hondas are great, the transmissions are crap. Here's the thing, my tls has extended warranty for 100,000 miles or 7 years. I'm fearing that my trans will make it & then let go AFTER the warranty expires. I hate to imagine what a new trans costs, probably $5,000?
'06 AT 96,000miles. All but 30 were put on in 4 yrs by me. No serious issues other than me driving it in to a small road based lake. Still sounds and runs great.
Flush: To clean, rinse, or empty with a rapid flow of a liquid, especially water
Drain: To draw off (a liquid) by a gradual process

Why don't you look into an extended 3rd party warranty. I just pay $50 copay and it's identical to the original warranty when it was new. New power steering pump, lines, starter, new front axle and boots. All for $50!
Easycare. And it's transferable for $50 so it's a huge selling point as well, assuming you want to sell down the road.
