Type 1 Switchbacks switch between white and amber as long as your parking lights are on while signaling. Type 2 Switchbacks are white while the parking lights are on, but only blink amber for signals.

I had to email the ebay seller to make sure I was getting the Type 2, as I think they tend to be considered more legal than the Type 1.

when i bought my bulbs from autolumination, they had a choice between the two types (amber blink only vs. amber-white blink). i thought i ordered the amber only bulbs, but i think they sent me the amber-white ones. doesn't really bother me, so i never exchanged them.
If that was an option then I may have missed it. But the funny thing is they didn't do it right away. It took about 30 seconds of blinking just orange when I was showing my dad then it starting blinking both. Kinda made me look silly but f it. Didnt know there were different kinds but then again I am a noob to led's and this stuff.
More of an old school modder.

My windows are pretty much black and cops here don't really mess with things like this. You should hear all the ricer exhausts going on that don't get stopped.
Plus we are a non emission state so not having cats here is technically not illegal either.

With nicer cars they tend to look the preverbial other way. Its the multi color shit cars with big wings and dents that draw attention of the cops since mexican mafia, gangs, meth houses drugs in general and the scum that live here pretty much keep po-po busy.

Damn 50.00 in lights down as I kinda want the type 2's but will rock these out for a while.

Really need a new soldering gun as I do not feel comfortable about this solder job.

Does anyone know what part number these relays are or where to get replacements???? So that I can go ahead and re-solder resistors (or 1 .24 ohm resistor ) and do it right so I don't have to keep worrying if something may go bad.

OK GUYS YES!!!! I am confirming this as said before, this mod WORKS with 4 LEDs! I have switchbacks up front and LED rear signals. I went and unsoldered the series setup, cut the leads a bit for clearance and resoldered them as parallel. So I used two .12ohm resistors but of course you could use 1 .24ohm resistor as described. Works like a charm, no hyperflash, regular flash rate! I don't have to be as concerned as before if my LED signals were on for a long time, simulating load needlessly, drawing power and generating heat. (200watts!) My BIG THANKS to the geniuses, Roger and BSpecialist!!

Only 1 problem now. I was just about to set up to put my load resistors back in and they just got mailed in. If anyone wants some 50watt 6ohm resistors, PM me.

Glad to hear you got it working as well. But I think you mixed up the terminology a little hah. No worries though!

so its either 2 - 0.12ohm or 1 - .24ohm resistor for FRONT and BACK?

not .06ohm like someone mentioned earlier?

Yessir. Just make sure if you have 2 0.12ohm that they are soldered in SERIES (google if needed). One end of the resistor connected to one end of the other resistor, then the 2 un-soldered ends go into the board.

Did you test to see if any one of the LED bulbs is "out" that it hyperflashes to let you know you have a bulb out?

any pictures. is there enough clearance for the 2 resistors with the cover?

I have not tested if it will hyperflash if one bulb is out. Personally I'm not too worried about it as I drive at night quite a bit and can always tell if my bulbs are still working.

Sorry I haven't had a chance to take a picture yet of my setup, but yes you can fit 2 resistors in there with enough clearance. It will be close if you don't solder close enough but you can always just bend it over a little like I did. I will post pictures soon.

About to use this guide for my autolumination 120 amber LED front turn signals.

Anybody have any .12 ohm 1 watt resistors left?

yeah man, sorry I did mix up what I meant, lol. This mod is so worth it guys, everyone with LEDs on 2 corners or all 4 should do it. It's easier to do than it looks.

To make clearance within the flasher housing the resistor's leads will need to be cut short to the level to just penetrate the circuit board. The resistor will nearly come to rest on the circuit board. Luckily there aren't too many big components around it and you have space to make it work. You might have to do some mild bending to close it up and fit it in.

guitarplayer I have resistors, just pm me.

I'm planning on just running switchbacks in the front right now, so would it be ok to put in a 0.24 ohm now? or will it affect the normal bulbs in the rear?

You can go ahead and put it in now. You just won't be able to tell if one of your rear bulbs burns out I'm pretty sure.

That should probably work, the watt rating on resistors is the ability to dissipate heat, and I would guess not much of a current is passing through the circuit...but again that's just a guess...Roger555???

or better yet what are the color scales of the .24 ohm resistor. Radio shack has a plethora of resistors its just i am not so good with color coding on these.

Pics make me happy.

It Works!!!

I was able to solder a couple .12 ohm resistors in series and get everything working. I got the LEDs mentioned on page 1 or 2 through ebay and they seem good. the rears are brighter than the stock bulbs. I'll see how things look tomorrow during the day.

By the way, I had ordered .24 ohm resistors since I got a little impatient waiting for the .12, so will be stuck with 10 once I receive them in a couple days. If someone needs one, PM me.

Here are some pics of the resistors:

If anyone needs a .24ohm resistor let me know... I just received them, so have 10. Here's a pic if you need the color scale. Thanks to all for this great and easy mod!

Might as well just do the .24ohm in case you want to put LEDs in the front ever. Shouldn't hurt it.

I received my bulbs today, and I seem to be having a problem. The bulb is white when the parking lights are on, however the white stays on and the amber flashes when I use my signal. It doesn't alternate or anything, constant white and flashing amber. Any ideas why this is?

So which way is it? lol Sometimes it just looks like one color stays on while the other flashes, but I'm pretty sure it just alternates so fast (being LED and all) that it gives the illusion that the one color is staying on the whole time. Look at it closely during the day and you should be able to tell if the whole tower of LEDs is actually on at the same time during the flashing stage. If it is...I don't know what type that is lol

no, type 1 is like that. i have the same thing. the older style.
the first video he posted for type 1 is not even like that, plus hyper flash FTL.

the white constantly stays on while amber flashes, that's type 1.

Having them in just the front or just the back shouldn't matter. Yes it should still work.

Yes, it'll still work with only front OR rear LEDs.
