Hey Roger555, I sent you a PM about maybe buying a resistor off you, but I'm not sure it went through as I'm a noob to this forum. Let me know, thanks!

roger,

i think i'll give this a try, but it's gonna take me more time to take all the resistors out from my trunk that i've installed before....lol

Yeah I did get mine thanks Roger. I liked the Homer stamp too lol. I recently had a death in the family so me getting to this won't be for awhile though but I will take pics and post them up when I do.

Its worth it! Get all those power sucking resistors out of there you will feel much better!

Will these be the cure to all four corner to prevent the hyperflash, or just the front or just the back?

is it possible that many other vehicles can be changed this easily to convert to LED? It seems to me that most newer cars will have similar setups. I'll have to check out my 07 Tahoe's relay this evening as I currently have LED tails with resistors. Talk about simple...Thanks for the DIY!

someone will chime in, but I'm pretty sure this will cover both sets front and rear, and it appears like it will work with the 07+ with the mirror signals as well.

It should I but I haven't tried that specifically. I know it blinks normal without any bulbs up front though.

I might have a chance this weekend to maybe pull the rear incandescent bulb to see what it does.

I successfully did this mod with a .12 ohm resistor from roger, came out nice and clean! no messy wiring behind the headlights and dont need to worry about connections coming loose or mounting the resistor!

are you running LEDs for both front and rear signals?

Hey guys I just tried this on my 06 TL with switchbacks up front and red LEDs for rears. After using new resistor it was still hyper flashing. Then I replaced the rear LEDs back to bulbs and no more hyper flash. So I guess it only works for just fronts or just rears not all four. Still way easier doing it this way though only took 5 min total.

What size resistor would we need to replace the .12 to get all four running properly? My logical guess would be a 24 OHM resistor.

Nate .12 ohm should work for all four if you give me your address I will send you one to try out.

Roger, please chime in.

I'm not gonna take out my resistors until it's confirmed that this will work with four LED bulbs.

If you read post #56 above my previous one, Dave tried it but still gets a hyperflash. I'll still take one if you have spares Roger

I'll see if I can get the resistance value for all 4 ! But in all honestly none of you guys should be using LEDs as rear turn signals unless its like an elef bulb that shit is not bright enough.

The reason I need to use LEDs in the rear is because I have clear tinted corner lenses and I can't find a 7443 red bulb. I used transparent glass paint onthe clear bulbs but the look pinkish.

Guess I should've been specific. I can't find any 7443 red bulbs locally, if I'm buying them offline I'd prefer LEDs.
Also, when I tested out my amber LED bulbs I use for my turn signals, they wouldn't fit into the housing of the taillights. Is there a different diameter stalk for the LEDs we need to order for the taillights ?

please do, i'm interested in doing this, but only if it works for front and rear.

and you don't think these http://www.v-leds.com/Exterior-LED/B...10374-1-2.html are bright enough to be rear turn signals?

my brother uses them in his 09 camry as his brake lights and they seem pretty bright.

I'm anxious to see when/if a different resister will be able to handle front and back leds.

I'm curious about changing out the resistor as well for all four. If running a high count SMD LED, they can be much brighter than the standard incandescent bulb.

Any idea what ohm resistor will be required to run all four? Thanks again!

Sorry guys ever sense the tornadoes messed up a few plants at work I have been working 12 hour days going on 3 weeks now! Haven't had much time to even sleep let alone mess with my car. A variable resistor would be a good option if someone wants to try that in the meantime. Just make sure it can go higher/lower then the .12 ohm

Roger you are a genius. We have a dead thread back in the day on this very topic of modding the flasher to stop the hyperflash. We said somebody would figure it out eventually. And you finally did it! I am totally for this mod because I use my signals for limited periods of time fully aware of the energy waste and heat generation of my 4 resistors.

Looking at your pics it is so easy to tell this mod will be a breeze. I did your DRL mod too which LOOKED complicated but was actually quite simple, straightforward, efficient and a durable mod compared to the alternatives. This flasher mod is no exception.

By the way LEDs in the rear are DEFINITELY bright enough. You just have to buy the right kind. I have an old video up somewhere in the archives. If you look it up you will see that LEDs in the rear can be plenty bright.

I too want to do this mod once someone figures what the proper resistor value is needed for LEDs in all 4 corners.

as OP mentioned, with how previous hondas you could do this (i knew you could, i remember seeing it a long time ago), anyways for doing it to a newer model of car

resistors in parallel 1/R3=1/R1+1/R2

the reason i use this formula because it works for the load resistors.
EX.
1/R3=1/6 OHMS + 1/6 OHMS
1/R3=1/3 OHMS
R3=3 OHMS

a shortcut is when you use the same resistors you just divide by the number of resistors.
EX.
R3=R/NUMBER OF RESISTORS
R3=6 OHMS/2
R3=3 OHMS
this is why you run two 3 ohms load resistors when you have LEDs in all four corners.

so using the same formula for the resistors for the relays it would be....
R3=R/NUMBER OF RESISTORS
R3=0.12 OHMS/2
R3=0.06 OHMS
what im try to say is if you have two of the 0.12 ohm resistors, put them in parallel if you want to run LEDs in all four corner. or you can just order some 0.06 ohm resistors.

i dont plan on running LEDs in the rear and im still waiting for my resistors, so someone should try it out and post results...

yeah... im bored

.06 ohm is exactly what I was thinking...didn't use the formula above, but figured if .12 worked for two, doubling the resistance would be .06. I found some .06 ohm through hole resistors but are rated at 2W...I'm thinking it would work, but not totally sure. However, doubling up two of the .12 that Roger linked is not a bad idea and just as easy.

resistor specs:

Watts: 2
Ohms: 0.06
Tolerance: 3
Lead/Terminal Type: Axial
Number Leads/Terminals: 2
Material: Wirewound
